Whose really the top 2 guys at WW, let alone one

Is Mosley really suddenly the top guy for that one win over Marg whom the other day was seen as one of the top guys?
Is Cotto really #2 when he lost to Margarito?
That's what I mean, it's opinion which is fine. But the WW division has to be one of the divisions furthest away from having a clear, distinct agreed top 2 guys, or even one.Comment

well cotto was the man as per many people, at that point margo beat him so that made him the man then shane beats margo so that makes him the man BUT cotto had already beat mosley so therefor he remains in the top along with mosleyComment

It's not annoying, it makes things interesting, and just shows the depth of talent the division has. It's what happens when you fight in competitive divisions, rather than hide out in divisions like JWW and SMW for the vast majority of your career (yes, I'm looking at you Hatton and Calzaghe)
Shane is the man who beat the man. So he's probably number 1 right now. If Cotto beats him in a re-match, then it'd probably him, like it was before he got beat Marg. It'd come full circle.
Is Williams still campaigning at Welter, or would that have just been for a Marg re-match?Comment

I agree WW is the most deep division in the game with a lot of elite talent. And yes in some ways it does make it more exciting and talkable, which is what I'm saying I think is one reason for it's popularity. It's not annoying, it makes things interesting, and just shows the depth of talent the division has. As for Calzaghe and Hatton, no they weren't in such deep divisions but not to the degree you suggest. Besides you say hiding, is it there fault it's not as deep in the weight class they are naturally suited to? They can't get down to lower divisions and people go as low as they can, so that's where they wind up. Additionally both of them have moved up. And furthermore, suddenly SMW is often being referred to as deep with Kessler, Taylor, Bute, Froch, Calzaghe beat the top guy out of the lot and is well favoured to win over the rest, so he is the best SMW by some margin, and same goes for Hatton.
Anyways I don't wana get on those 2 so much, but I do find it interesting the attention a division gets, and complex scenario's like WW seems to do wierd things, a lot of appreciation from more serious fans, but some confusion from casual fans whom are used to knowing who the top guy is plain and simple, for long time periods.Last edited by Kris Silver; 01-25-2009, 11:05 AM.Comment

Hahaha Hatton hiding in the JR WW division, ridiculous. It's not annoying, it makes things interesting, and just shows the depth of talent the division has.
