Greatest Boxer Past his prime: Shane Mosley

I think Shane Mosley is undoubtedly the best boxer in boxing right now who is past his prime yet still looking sharp. He held his own with Cotto and even though he lost he was using Cotto's pressure fighting strategy to try and regain some points on the cards after 6 rounds. He knocked out Mayorga in the 12th when no one expected it. He obliterated Margarito yesterday with an impresssive KO in the 9th round and Mosley's never been knocked out in his career. He's beating top ranked boxers at an older age and dominating. You can't really say the same for your favourite boxer... I can't think of anyone better right now that's even close to his age...Shane Mosley is the legend!

I'm sorry, but how can you say he's the best boxer at the moment?

Plus just to make sure i wasn't seeing things, i re watched a few Shane Mosley fights from years back, and he looked as good against, if not better in his fight last night! If your past your prime you don't fight like you did 10 years ago! Age is just a number in boxing these days

I didn't say he's the best boxer at the moment [although that is my personal opinion]. I said he's the best boxer past his prime at the moment. Can you name anyone better that is past his prime?

I respect your opinion but I still think Hopkins deserves that title. In his last 4 fights he was the underdog in most of them, and had to deal with all kinds of adversity. I had him beating Calzaghe, he beat Tarver and Winky, and dominated Pavlik. And he is well in his 40s so that makes it even more impressive for me.
What Mosley did last night though, that performance belongs way up there with the likes of Hopkins-Pavlik.

              Did'nt you?

personally when your past your prime its time to go, unfortunatly Ali proved that as its literally, very very bad for your health. Best boxer past his prime, Oscar. He can draw and make the biggest fights, still

You're saying De La Hoya is the best boxer past his prime simply for the amount of income he makes? So you're disregarding the actual technical aspects of a fighter and you instead shift to a boxer's popularity status? I wouldn't measure the greatest boxer in boxing that is past his prime the same way you have. I don't even see how you can say De La Hoya is better than Hopkins and Mosley as of now who is past his prime. Mosley is aging but obviously it hasn't really taken its toll on him. So why would it be time to go?

What i actually said was that when your past your best you should go, theres never a good boxer past his prime. But Oscar makes the big fights still, bar against Pacman where he was weight drained (ever heard of another fighter that loses weight between the weigh in and the fight?) he still has glimpses of his best and seems to bring the best out of all other fighters, so thats why i consider him a good fighter past his prime. He brings attention to the sport for the right reasons and gets more people involved, which in an era of MMA is very important and not usually associated with a boxer past his prime (Tyson being the worst example)
