Agreed. I look at it as the longer he doesn't fight the rustier he will get. Floyd has got the speed and smarts but boxing is also about timing. If he can't time his punches against Pac/Cotto he will have a problem. He can beat Margarito and Hatton if he didn't fight for 5 years. His skill is superior than there will.

i think he can regain his timing by hiring some good sparring partners for his next bout and go straight into a real fight. I dont think he wants to come back and lose all the hype with a tuneup. Besides, his 15 minutes rounds of sparring against multiple sparring partners will do the job

Only a little though. He's very talented, is usually in very good shape and it won't take much to be in tip top shape and in the groove. So a very small amount.

I think it will... the biggest factor when being inactive is fighting someone with speed...

Its also one of the main reasons when a team goes into the playoffs and they have a bi-week...sometimes they dont do well...

training in the gym, and sparring is way different then being in an actual fight... especially with someone like pacman

Im not saying floyd cant handle it... but its not helping him

It has nothing to do with being in shape, or staying in the gym...

Theres a reason that theres a benefit to staying active, and fighting a lot...

Because its a whole different game when you step through the ropes for real.

i doubt it.....remember trinidad came back after 2 years against mayorga and looked better then ever.....leonard did it too.....it only hurts fighters who just train when fighting not year round......

Hey, PBF still has more money in his account than everyone in this thread combined... but when you win big, you lose big... He will have to fight again. And $$$ will be one of the chief reasons.

It's hard to say without a crystal ball but I would have to say NO.
With as much skill that Floyd possesses he will be fine if he has his youth and prime still on his side when he fights next. I have to say Floyd would be about the same by mid fight at any time before he's 35 or so. He's just that talented.

Note* This does not mean he cannot get snuck up on while shaking out the ring rust and get beaten. Every style has a counter and that includes Floyd's and Calzaghe's. We just havn't seen them yet. On second thought, maybe we have. Prime Castillo and prime Jones.
