Floyd relies on timing a lot, and that's something that can go off with inactivity.

Still, it's Floyd so it'd probably take 1 or 2 rounds to get it back.

the one thing tha impresses me more with Floyd than anything is his impeccable timing. The checkhook he threw on Hatton I dont think anyone could do. With inactivity such as his I have to think his timing will be affected. He will always be in shape and seemingly always in the gym when not fighting but its like any sport its one thing to practice and another to play.

He will be rusty for I would 4-5 rounds then the old Floyd will start to show

Maybe his timing and the way he sholder rolls at the right time COULD be affected,he would need a couple rounds/tune up fight to shake the rust off

What about his speed? I dont know but I think apart from timing he might lose some speed too

I'd say yeah, it could very much affect him negatively. I don't see how any fighter can benefit from this length of time away from the ring. A decent rest is good, but by the time he'd be fighting again, how long would that rest have been... 2 years? I don't see how this wouldn't cause problems, especially if fighting the likes of Pacquiao, if that fight ever gets made.

That was really good timing but I was always surprised that never happened to Hatton before because he always leaps in not protecting his chin. I actually had a dream that Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather were sparring and Ricky jumped in like that and Mayweather knocked him down and hurt him. It was more or less like the KD from when Ricky fought Magee except he was out. Ricky needs to keep his guards by his chin when he jumps in like that!

Of course it will. Given how much his reflexes mean to his style, it could seriously hurt him against a Pacquiao, for instance.

Not only that, when you look at the Floyd of 98-03 compared to the 05-07, you already see that he's slowing down. Hard to imagine what inactivity might do but it sure as hell won't help. He'll be, what, 33 next time he fights? Not good.

All he's done is not fight for a year, it's not like hes suddenly over the hill or anything, hes still only 30 and i dont think his 'retirement' will have affected him too much IMO.
