Bernard Hopkins Jr. huh? Yeah I'm sure if bhop has a son Jones could kick his ass at this point!

BUT LOL@Jones beating Hopkins right now. There is a reason Bhop is ranked #3 or #4 pound 4 pound in the world and Jones is not even in the top 50. It's because Hopkins is still fighting elite fighters and winning (or losing very very close) and Jones is shot.

And Hopkins came close to finishing off Pavlik, something no man has ever done before, so he does have power left. I mean Pavlik was very close to going down in the final rounds there and he was a defeated, hurt man by the time everything was said and done.

****** ass thread, you're on a roll today keep it up.

Both Hopkins and Jones Jr are All Time Greats. However, Jones Jr was better than Hopkins in his prime... but since Tarver in 2004 Jones hasn't seemed to be the same and it looks like he has aged in dog years. Hopkins on the other hand, would lose to Jones Prime vs Prime but if the fight was right now Hopkins would win... age hasn't seemed to effect Hopkins that much (well obviously a little bit but still...) he is very impressive for a 44 year old man and has shown he still has it when he fought Pavlik.

So my thought are, Prime Jones Jr. vs Prime Hopkins = Jones Jr by decision (if they had a rematch in there primes) and Modern Jones Jr vs Modern Hopkins = Hopkins by decision (maybe even late TKO).

Oh and by the way... it is just Bernard Hopkins, not Bernard Hopkins Jr.

Styles make fights and Hopkins isn't going to come at Jones throwing 1000 punches, they will fight at a much slower pace and Jones has much better handspeed, power and even reflexes than Hopkins today. Hopkins has the edge in footwork and defence but I can see Roy outpointing him, even today.

Roy has not been the same since he came back down from Heavyweight but I think he's better now than he was in the Tarver and Johnson fights (he took the Johnson fight too soon after being KOed) and he could easily have won the third Tarver fight if he actually tryed. He was unimpressive against the two journeymen he fought but I put that down to not training with as much desire because he impressed me loads in the Trinidad fight (even Tito impressed me) and parts of the Calzaghe fight. If Roy is motivated he could beat Bernard, even today.

            Styles make fights.
LMFAO. Hopkins does not want to fight Roy now because he himself said that he cares for him and there would be no point in battering a shot Jones. Be that as it may if it were to happen Hopkins would knock Roy out.

He is naturally larger and has fought at a highter weight 95% of their careers. Bernard has 7 actual Ko's in 54 fights. That isn't all that great of an average. I agree that Bernard is definitely a master but he does not have any real one shot power.

Talent goes with age, and you gotta learn to adapt to the circumstances, because of all these young lions coming in...or else folks like Jones will find themselves out of the Pride. B.hop has manage to adapt with tricks of the trade, and still stay relevant, so he tops Roy who had the better talent as far as HOF or ATG goes. Plus at 35 or so he was bound to fall off, especially since he had moved up to heavy and back down to 175. SRL and Ali were pretty much done at the same age as Jones.

I disagree. I think Hopkins was good at prolonging his career by fighting smaller men who don't stand a chance at putting him on his back. He could have moved up to 175 easily to fight Jones when Jones was p4p #1 for all the marbles and avoided the opportunity to prove his superiority over jones as far as the ATG arena. in the end he was just selling wolf tickets. Jones kept moving up in weight, facing bigger men until he got ko'd.

i agree with what u said mostly but the part
                    about roy not being intelligent....
it's not that he isn't intelligent...he is stubborn...
if u watch fights he was commenting on, he knew
exactly what a fighter had to do in order to be successful...
he KNOWS what to do as a fighter, but he couldn't
do it himself because he relied on his physical gifts....
                    so i wouldn't say roy isn't intelligent i would
call him stubborn or just plain dumb lol
he is one of those stupit smart people....
they know what to do and how to do it, but they kant
because of whatever reasons which usually involves

Bait thread. Hopkins can pick the round he KO's Jones in now. Roy was completely shook by Joe's taps, claimed that **** was hard, when Hop clowned Cal's power the moment after their fight was over. If Bernard was an ******* he'd go in against Roy and put him out in 5 minutes. Roy has not wised up offensively and his defense is mediocre. Hopkins looks at the video tape and eats this current Jones alive.
