Indeed, this is quite troubling to see so many posters agree that an inferior fighter (although popular) command the SAME reward as a proven, battte-tested, and consensus BETTER fighter...
Athletes are paid according to merit... Would a good but popular baseball player command the SAME salary aprime future HOFer like A-ROD?
Lastly, 5 percent................. Is that too much to concede for Hatton? I, believe PAC and a whole host of other fighters are worth 5 more percent than Hatton...
If anything, I think PAC is being overly generous...Comment

i agree 100%
Hatton should stfu and just accept Manny's offer......and DLH's croonie can go to hell too......Comment

Got an idea Hatton should fight Anna Kournikova, another athlete grossly overpayed because of "popularity"...
Tell you what, if Hatton had PAC's career, would you still claim 50/50 is fair????Comment

if pac cant bring in the money his success means sh@#t moronComment

Its time for a change...Comment

If Hatton brings so much money then he should rematch that ringpost that knocked him the **** out... Maybe he could sell out wembly...Comment
-
And thats why boxing is being ****ed.... Boxing has become some sort of beauty pagent/ popularity contest... Everyone should be supporting PAC's power move right now, because it is a step in the right direction... DLH's precedent of commanding the most money due to popularity rather than merit has hurt the sport and thats why other fighters hasnt gotten the spotlight...

Pacman's last 3 fights:
Decision over JMM (Jr Lightweight title)
KO over David Diaz (Lightweight title)
KO over Oscar De La Hoya (1st ever fight at Welterweight)
Hatton's last 3 fights:
KO loss to Floyd Mayweather (at the the time P4P #1)
Decision over Juan Lazcano (Lazcano hadn't fought in nearly 2 years??)
KO over Pauli Malignaggi (LOL)
...and Hatton was worth a 60-40 over Pacquiao? :wank:
This is why I made a thread previously about PPV rates, etc being looked over the actual fights. People are bitching that Hatton deserves the bigger pie since he has a huge following and would generate great PPV and gate numbers...but competitively IMO it was just one last stepping stone to an inevitable fight with Floyd (which really is the fight the majority of us would like to see).
Just my 2 centsComment

I agree... And just because it was like this for DLH, maybe now with him gone, it doesnt have to be that way again.. DLH was popular for a reason... Millions were spent on his "pr" image, where that money could have been spread to a whole host of other fighters.... They made DLH into a brand name outside of boxing and that in itself alienated millions of potentil fans visa v the growth of other fighting sports... There was a serious backlash to the DLH era as anyone can easily see.Comment
