With the recent crumbling of a potential bout between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton - the door has opened for other mega-bout matchups. A few weeks ago, trainer Freddie Roach told boxing scribe Ron Borges that Pacquiao has a real urge to fight WBA welterweight champ Antonio Margarito. According to Roach, Pacquiao is convinced that he can outbox the much bigger Margarito. [details]

Yes, I don't think Margo is interested in fighting at a lower weight. If he does he's crazy because I know he saw the DLH fight and the effect of the lowered weight in that instance.
I have to admit that at first I was disappointed in Manny for not taking the fight. But I congratulate him on valuing himself that highly against his other opponents. He is getting real gangster lol and causing a lot of buzz. At this rate, if Manny beats Margo or destroys JMM at 140 if they fight, he really will become a HUGE superstar.
If you build up a any type of fight like this and don't give the people what they want when they want, it will just make yourself that much more desirable when you actually come out and fight again. Because unlike Mayweather, we know Manny wants to fight at least 3 or 4 more fights, and he believes that he is great so the next year or two we will see if Manny can reach only DLH status as a star or maybe even Tyson status if he can beat Margarito or Mayweather he can be there IMO.Last edited by LRcie03; 01-22-2009, 02:42 AM.Comment

yeah, roach had mentioned a possible fight with margarito at 143. they're probably hoping he'll come in drained like dlh. Margarito has said that pac's camp only suggested it because they know he cant make 143 and he doesnt believe pac wants to compete in the ww division. Anyway, I wouldnt put too much credence in anything coming from pac's camp these days. they'll probably say anything to deflect attention from the pac-hatton fiasco.
margarito discusses it at 5:17 but the translator does a **** job as usual:
