So what in your opinion could Shane Mosley do to be effective or even win?
At this stage of the game I don't think it's any secret that Shane needs to minimize the exchanges between he and Antonio. Don't feed Antonio's adrenal glands, don't let emotions take over. With Cotto and Antonio it was almost like a race against the clock after the first round to see if Cotto could get through twelve rounds before getting tracked down. Cotto tried to either box or punch without using a lot of other tactics. Just throw punches or move out of the way but in a pro fight that's only a small part of the plan. Shane has a few more tricks up his sleeve in that regard than Cotto and I would suggest he use them. Think Toney-Barkley without as much hanging on the ropes.
I wouldn't suggest boxing and retreating too too much, but rather let Shane use angles and side steps and maneuvers on the inside, subtle stuff that would allow him to take some of Antonio's momentum away. Have Shane use a stiff jab, try to win on points, try to use skills and style and finesse. Force Antonio into mistakes and capitalize on them without getting too anxious.
Oh, yea, and be in great shape, too, because Margarito is going to bring it hard all night long!
