Scenario for Sugar and the Tornado...

So what in your opinion could Shane Mosley do to be effective or even win?

At this stage of the game I don't think it's any secret that Shane needs to minimize the exchanges between he and Antonio. Don't feed Antonio's adrenal glands, don't let emotions take over. With Cotto and Antonio it was almost like a race against the clock after the first round to see if Cotto could get through twelve rounds before getting tracked down. Cotto tried to either box or punch without using a lot of other tactics. Just throw punches or move out of the way but in a pro fight that's only a small part of the plan. Shane has a few more tricks up his sleeve in that regard than Cotto and I would suggest he use them. Think Toney-Barkley without as much hanging on the ropes.

I wouldn't suggest boxing and retreating too too much, but rather let Shane use angles and side steps and maneuvers on the inside, subtle stuff that would allow him to take some of Antonio's momentum away. Have Shane use a stiff jab, try to win on points, try to use skills and style and finesse. Force Antonio into mistakes and capitalize on them without getting too anxious.

Oh, yea, and be in great shape, too, because Margarito is going to bring it hard all night long!

He's gotta stay in boxing mode. Stickin and movin. Throwin punches only in flurries. Mixin body shots into his combos. No standin and tradin, no tryin for a KO, no tryin to match Marg's workrate. Make all his shots count and don't waste any energy. If he could do this all nite he'd win, but I don't think he can.

I agree with that. The angles and sidesteps are particularly important IMO, if Mosley lets Margarito find his distance, like Cotto did as the fight went on, he'll be in trouble.

I hope SSM goes down and ruins his chances to get into the HOF....

Cheating bastard, doesnt even deserve a big money fight...... Just leave boxing and have nothing to do with it for the rest of your life....

I hate cheaters, and that is what SSM is....I hope he loses!!!

I think he needs to use his speed advantage and actually try to back up Margarito.

Shane doesn't seem to jab all that much though. The angles yeah, the jab not so sure about it.
Seems like he abandons it a lot.

Angles aren't going to be enough. The outcome of this fight is going to depend in large part on how well Shane can tie up Margo.

To win this fight Shane needs to be able to keep the disparity in work rate to a minimum. Normally you would do this with feints, but since Margo thinking nothing of getting hit, Shane is going to have to tie him up frequently, wrestle around with him, and make the fight ugly every once in a while.

Combine that with boxing and I think Mosley can pull out a win.

Feints, tie up and angles, but I think Shane is one of those fighters where he would rather take a loss going out with machismo than be criticized for winning a fight by holding as his strategy.

I agree with that one completely. Shane never has shied away from a rumble.
It would be hard for him to do now.

Definitely, tying Margarito up would be a very good idea for Mosley, I think he should fire off a few body shots before tying Margarito up, can't stay in there too long though because of Margarito's uppercuts. But the problem here is Mosley's mentality, he likes to brawl, he isn't much of a clincher.

Wrestling with Margarito is not the way to go though, Margarito is naturally bigger, it would tire Mosley out.

Most of the time, the more boring the fight is, the better it is for Margarito's opponents.
