Tarver. He just lost twice to Taylor although dubiously, and was movin to 175 for the 1st time. I really wasn't surprised to see him beat Tarver, but the degree to which he beat him was great. The Pavlik win was a shock to me, but I'd still put Tarver above that since it netted him his next title.
Who is Hopkins's second best win?

Tito, Johnson, Tarver, Pavlik, Wright, Echols
One thing though...Echols would K.T.F.O Pavlik at 160Comment

So let me get this straight. A green Glen Johnson, who had an inflated record full of stiffs is Hopkins' second best win, and Antwun Echols, who never won a title in his life, or beat anyone of note, who was bested by Mundine, knocks the hell out of Kelly Pavlik?
Oh lord.
As for the thread, I think going up two weight classes, not taking any warm up fights, and beating the best guy in the division while a big underdog, is a better win than Pavlik.Comment

Glen Johnson wasn't that green. I mean Johnson always had problems with movers and combination punchers. That was Hopkins at the time. There wasn't footage of Johnson before that and he had 32 fights. How can you be green with 32 fights? He faced a ****load of nobodies, his best win being Sam Garr, but I wouldn't say he was super green.
Also Bernard Hopkins ruined Echols. He wasn't the same fighter he was in there was Mundine. Echols clearly loses to Pavlik, but I think he could beat a lot of today's middleweights. I think he could beat someone like Edison Miranda.Comment

I agree. Echols wasn't a bad or average fighter at all coming up. I think Pavlik would beat him as he throws straighter, harder punches more consistently, but Echols wasn't a walk in the park.Glen Johnson wasn't that green. Johnson's resume when he fought Hopkins was worse than Tye Fields'. I'd say Fields is pretty green if you're talking about world class opposition. Sam Garr? Holy cow, he'd fought 9 pro debuters and the one guy he actually fought with a winning record before facing Johnson, was 11-9-2 (against poor comp mind you.) Trust me, Johnson was green, and the proof is how much he's improved in the years since he fought Hopkins (even after the considerable losses after Bernard, yes some disputed.)Glen Johnson wasn't that green.
