Fights which you felt.....something weird was going on

What's funny about this is that the first time is that when Cawley goes down for the first time, the ref rules it a slip, almost as if to say "he didn't hit you hard enough." And then in the second round it becomes totally obvious and in order to re-gain any shred of credibility, Cawley figures "I'll throw some jabs" and then he actually lands four of them which makes Rahman flustered for a moment. Then Rahman lands a light jab and finally the ref stops it. How terrible.Comment

Just read a couple of posts from a poster who is convinced that Golden Boy promoted fights are fixed, citing Hopkins' fights versus Pavlik and De La Hoya.
Now, while I don't necessarily agree that those particular fight were indeed fixed, because I don't see a motive or a reason for De La Hoya or Pavlik to throw the fights, it was kinda weird still the same - seeing Pavlik so out of it and standing there like a zombie, and seeing Oscar falling to the ground in that less than convinging way.
What fights do you think something weird might have been going on? Or even if there wasn't, things just seemed surreal.
I would add Pac vs DLH to the above mentioned fights, it just did not see real at times. There's a gif of DLH rocking back from a Pac punch, and it just doesn't seem right for some reason. Again, I dont think it was fixed, but things just looked odd.
Hell yeah those fights were fixed. Could you imagine how much more money DLH made by betting on himself to lose against Hopkins and even more on Pac when Pac was the underdog. He probably bet on the round too. Another notable fight that was fixed was Mayorga/DLH. Don't give me this crap about Mayorga being that terrible. He was considered among the P4Pers a couple years before that, then looks like an amateur against DLH.Comment

Well Oscar is a good boxer with power...Thats all you need against Mayorga.Hell yeah those fights were fixed. Mayorga vs DLH never seemed that su****ious to me, I have to say. Funny thing is, I thought Shane against Mayorga was a bit dubious, in that Shane got the KO so late.Hell yeah those fights were fixed. Could you imagine how much more money DLH made by betting on himself to lose against Hopkins and even more on Pac when Pac was the underdog. He probably bet on the round too. Another notable fight that was fixed was Mayorga/DLH. Don't give me this crap about Mayorga being that terrible. Btw, how could DLH bet on himself? Come on, man. Don't tell me he got a third party to do it or something. Bookies are not going to let that happen to them. And what's the most DLH could make anyway? More than future fights he could have made, with the cache of having beaten Bernard Hopkins?
And what was Pavlik's motive for losing to Hops? He looked out of his depth, the defeat was embarassing, it's hit his legacy to lose so badly to an old man, it hit his marketability. What is Pavlik going to gain from it?
I'm not disagreeing that the fights looked weird. But just saying I need a solid motive and reason to believe.Comment

Yeah, I thought Oscar was letting Pac take a few rounds, so he could turn around and say that at least Pac was competitive after he'd KOd him. But after a while, it dawns on you that there's not gonna be a shift in the tide.yeah i felt weird watching the Pacman - DLH fight
a voice in the back of my head (put there by NSB no doubt) kept saying Oscar's just making it look good for the cameras so it will be all the more dramatic when he starts fighting in the 2nd half of the fight...... but the rounds just kept passing and oscar kept doing nothing........... it defies all logic but my immediate thought was that he'd thrown the fight
and i'm not a delusional Oscar fan...... i actually bet alot of points and a bit of money on Pac winning
Such a surreal fight.Comment
