Mosley can beat Margarito if.........

i dont think cotto was sticking and moving because he wanted too.. cotto is a pressure fighter even more than mosley is, and he was forced to stick and move... because marg can take your best punch all night long... he throws 100+ a round, from all different angles and he only seems to gain momentum in the later rounds
Your not going to out brawl margarito... shane might be able to beat him to the punch for a little bit.. when rounds 6,7,8,9 come around... shane will start wearing down, and he wont be hurting margarito at all... marg will win those exchanges.
he can take your punch, you cant necessarily take his.
I do agree that mosley takes more punishment than Cotto... but you also need the stamina to keep up with marg's workrate jus to win the fight.. let alone survive. Lets keep in mind, Moslye is 37 years old.
Theres only so many rounds Shane can stand there and trade with margarito, and keep up with the workrate as well, to win a round...Comment

Replacing Jack Mosley with Nazeem was a good start.
I think going for the body is a good shout. Margarito and his team were completely prepared for the Cotto body attack, but not sure they would be for Shane doing so. He's got to keep Margarito off him somehow, and I don't think headhunting is the answer.
Shane's got the tools to give Marg problems in that he (still) has speed and has got a better chin than Cotto. If he fight intelligenlyt, which Nazeem will be pushing him to do, then he's got a chance. If he tries slugging with Margs, Tony will beat him down.Comment

Mosley wont run, because he has never been a runner he has always been an offensive boxer /puncher and i dont think he will change up in this fight.Comment

He never did because he couldn't. Margarito defended his body because he trained and prepared very well.Comment

Yeah, I don't think so either, which is why I fancy Marg. I just keep thinking that there's a reason he went with Nazeem, like maybe he saw the number B-Hop did on Pavlik, and knows that fighting like he did against Cotto and Mayorga is not gonna cut it against Marg. It's probably too late in the day for Shane to change, anyroad.Comment

Once again, Miguel Cotto could not find an opening to the body! The only way Mosley can beat Margarito is by using his speed to his advantage, time Margarito with nice counters, clinch when needed, and outbox him. Don't try to outpunch him, try to neutralize his workrate by moving clock wise and then counterclock wise, be first and try not to let him get off as much as he usually does. It won't happen though, I think Antonio got this, but I would be suprised if Mosley won though. The main reason why Cotto lost IS because he forgot all about the body.
It seemed that Cotto was amazed that Margarito was taking all of his punches straight in the mouth. He completely forgot about the body.
The only way Mosley can win the fight is to break Margarito down like a tree.
Still, Margarito wins by KO.Comment

Yep, Shane has never been that kind of fighter.Yeah, I don't think so either, which is why I fancy Marg. I just keep thinking that there's a reason he went with Nazeem, like maybe he saw the number B-Hop did on Pavlik, and knows that fighting like he did against Cotto and Mayorga is not gonna cut it against Marg. i see the nazeem factor being important here, marg and pavlik are very similar fighters (although marg has a better array of punches) and nazeem will have sugar shane fighting the smart fight rather than going toe to toe.
alot of ppl are saying that cotto seemed to forget going to the body? wtf is that all about, cotto is a great body puncher and he knows it - so why would he all of a sudden forget or choose to ignore going to the body?!!?!? its not because he forgot its because he couldn't.
marg is a big guy with a good height and reach advantage yet despite that he is at his best on the inside. when the fight is up close and personal marg prefers it. also vs cotto he was holding his right hand and his right elbow very low protecting the body on purpose, this took away cottos best punch (left hook to the body). in case cotto did try and land the left hook to the body marg could shoot and uppercut with his right or come across with his left hook.
there is one thing though which cotto did far too much off imo, he was too easily backed up. he fought off the ropes at every oppottunity instead of fighting in the pocket and only going to the ropes when need be.
imo this is why i like sugar's chances, sugar will be willing to fight in the pocket and hes more of a fighter/warrior than cotto so i dont see him being backed up so much. he'll fight in the pocket and look to counter marg and then move, also i see him using more lateral movement something which again cotto faled to do in the fight.
throw in the fact that sugar shane is tougher and generally better conditioned (to my knowledge never had any problems with stamina) and i think the fight stops looking so straightforward. yes suagr is 37 now but i just think that as a great fighter he has one more great fight in him.Comment
