When I talk about REAL fans, I say purists. Any other time, I'm talking about the people who fill the seats. The people who fill the seats, 9 out of 10 times, go for the guy who is undefeated and will follow that guys career more often. And popularity, fair or not, often dictates how successful a person can be in this game.

You can point out an Arturo Gatti, but for every Gatti, and I can pull out pull out 20 Jason Litzaus, Jeff Lacys and Amir Khans. Khan just happens to have a big time promoter behind him that is willing to invest. For obvious reasons.

I agree. However, what you might not be getting is that this sport, for better or worse, lives due to fighter fans.

I do really feel that his trainer might be a major problem. He hasn't SEEMED to try and change any of the negatives that seem so glaring to most observers.

Ive noticed he keeps his hands up when the fight begins... and as he gets more and more comfortable with who hes fighting and what he can do he starts dropping them... I think if he was in a real fight with someone they wouldnt be dropping like they do against these guys...

Also possible. Some fighters kind of 'fight down' to the level of the opponent. It remains to be seen if he will step up as he steps up, but he's gotta be a pretty smart fighter, in one sense. When he won the gold medal, clearly he had a different style then he does now, since it's a different scoring style. Technically, that could be a sign that he adapts to how he SHOULD fight.
