without Manny, ROaches record as a trainer is horrilbe so i hope Khan doesnt put too much into that. Not sure what to think of this fight but understand why it happened. this will be Barreras last stand and For Khan it will be if he belongs. NOt sure the odds but Barrera moving up in weight to fight a quicker bigger fighter is not a wise move and may have been his only option to a belt. For Khan fighting a legend while trying to regain his status after Prescott is also a very risky move but neccesary. Barrera is not what he was but is still good enough for me not to bet against him but i think he will be fighting father time more so than Khan. Weight has to be an issue since 135 or lower is the better divsion for him. And after Marquez we know he still has the skill and power but his reaction time is not the same and he seems less willing to mix it up, which was his trademark. Khan needs to realize that Barrera does have some power and needs to just box and take advantage of his reach, height and age advantage. i think either could win but Khan looks like if he fights smart he should be able to get the decision even if he gets knocked down in the fight. In saying all that i believe this will be a boring fight with both fighters so afraid of losing that neither will win outright but time will tell

Hardly. He turned round James Toney's career, and he has trained more elite fighters than almost anyone else. That could hardly have happened if his record was horrible as you claim! A couple didn't work out, notably Vasquez, but that's true of any top trainer.
Also, most boxing experts think Roach is a true boxing expert, and Roach honestly believes Khan has the potential to be world class, and that he can fix his chin problem.Last edited by Dave Rado; 01-20-2009, 12:00 PM.Comment

I'll go with the underdog, Khan.
In my opinion, Barrera's experience and Khan's Lack of concentration with defense will be the deciding factors.Comment

this is such a bad fight for khan. i really like the kid but looks like roach's dementia is starting to kick in here; khan's no pacman.
barrera is going to take him to deep waters and drown him.
this will be good TV for all us barrera fans.Comment
