If Khan loses this I think he should just give up.

But, I think Khan will win this fight and look impressive. His speed is amazing.

I don't think he should give up if he loses to a legend. There's no shame in getting beaten by Barrera.

I have bets on Barrera winning but to be honest I am not confident at all. It's not difficult to see Khan winning this fight. He is a big lightweight with fast hands and decent skills. Marco is getting old and just may not have the reflexes to deal with speed anymore.

I agree, it just isn't fair to the other boxers, this sport is a business first, and because there is so much politics in this game it is not as good as it should be. Joshua Clottey, Glenn Johnson, Bredies Prescott have to suffer because of this.

Ah I see you did finally bet.

I think there's an even bigger factor than the ones you've mentioned. Roach honestly believes he has transformed Khan. I have a lot of respect for Roach's opinion and his track record is for honesty, not for hyping people.

                Why should he give up?

He is easily the best lightweight in the country. He may not be world class, but there will always be big domestic fights available to him.

Khan is immensely popular in this country, because he is such good entertainment. I have never watched a boring Amir Khan fight. And I have watched all of his fights.

Winnable fight for Khan, doubt he will win, but he has a chance, Freddie Roach is not ******, he knows Barrera's style and Khan has a lot of speed, good power, and Barrera is past his prime.

Hi Dave. Yes, I (somewhat reluctantly) put a bet down! The more I think about it, it seems Barrera could very well lose a points decision, although I think it will be a tough fight for Khan. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but something tells me I made a mistake in picking Barrera to win. At this point, I just don't know how much he has left.

Yeah, I have a great deal of respect for Freddie, too.

This fight isn't about politics. Barrera wants to have a testing-the-water fight in a new division, having just moved up in weight, that will also make him good money. Khan wants to move up in class, but not too fast, and to increase his marketability, in a fight his trainer is convinced he is ready for. He's not fighting for a title and is nowhere near ready to do so, he's gaining valuable experience. It makes both boxing and business sense for both of them.

In fact you could say that it was the WBO's ****** decision to make Barrera a mandatory for Campbell that was politics, and Barrera is to be commended for taking a tough fight against a young, fast fighter, at this stage, rather than just waiting for the mandatory to happen.

Prescott didn't call out Barrera so this match-up has had no effect on Prescott.

Prescott has also just taken a meaningless fight against a small lightweight, that looks better on paper than it will be in the ring, and I think over-protective handlers are to blame for that rather than politics. At this stage Prescott's matchmakers should be looking for a large durable lightweight just outside the top 10 for him to gain experience against.
