    A True Fan...

I went to a Pensacola news website, and read the article about Roy Jones Jr. fighting in P-Cola pretty soon. When I read the comments at the end of the article I saw that some don't care about Roy Jones Jr. anymore. The people used the words washed up and old. Which are true, although I think saying washed up is an ******* way of *****g it. They said who cares about this washed up has been. What bothered me is I bet those same people were Roy Jones Jr. fans 10 years ago. They loved it when Roy was the p4p king of the sport, but now that hes old and not good anymore, now its the hell with him.

I think thats ****ed up, because to me thats being a fake fan. Its like bandwagon jumping, I'll use this fighter for his prime because hes good. But the minute he starts to lose it, I'll jump to the next fighter whos on the come up. So did you ever like Roy Jones Jr. to begin with, or just his success? If you just enjoyed his winning, thats fine, but your not a fan. Your just someone who jumps on whatever is hot at that moment, to you its all just a passing fad.

    ya dig..........

agreed... people do it all the time... not just with roy... with lots of fighters... i think if you were a fan, you dont just stop cuz the guy cant do what he could 10 years ago... its all good if your for his retirement already, but saying "who gives a fuc*" is fake to me... you dont care just cuz hes not the same fighter anymore, you should still wish him the best, and a safe victory... if you WERE a fan.

RJJ fans especially should be hoping he retires at this point. Wishing for him to continue on is not being a fan anymore.

I never said I wanted him to continue. He wants to, I can't stop him. I'll be honest though, I don't theres anything wrong with this fight on 21st of March. Its not like hes fighting Chad Dawson or Calzaghe again...its for the fans.

              I agree.

As for the topic, it's nothing new, a lot of so called 'fans' jump ship once a fighter starts losing, they aren't real fans.

as a boxing fan, i would love to see my favorite fighters fight on forever. but i would rather much see them hanging them up after a brilliant career and not risk serious injury. i got Roy's back but i hope he retires soon.

Fans using the fighter? For what?

Please be specific; what is it that one uses a fighter for?

It's entertainment. He'll fight til' your last dollar or until he's sated in terms of fame or money or whatever. For him, it's only about you to the extent that it reflects upon him. Be your own hero. Grow up.
