I like all parts of the game but an all action brawl I always prefer to a boxing clinic.I'd pick Gatti over Hopkins any time.

If boxing only had brawlers...the sport would sux. Same could be said to boxers. So ofcourse we'd need both

Has anybody here ever heard of the saying "the best offense, is a good defense"?

It all depends on the style really.

Guys like Hopkins and Mayweather are inring technicians who excell at defense, and I love watching them fight.

Both are fun. The best defensive guys typically know when to turn up the offensive output. They tend to make opponents pay for mistakes and I find that fun to watch.

Everyone likes action, but sometimes I see fighters so sloppy while going at it that they make me regret Baldomir-Mayweather or even Taylor-Spinks.

As long as they mix punches in wit their defense, I don't mind defensive fighters.

yeah so put two "defensive" minded fighters together in the ring and you have yourself a snoozefest....one waiting to counter the other who is waiting for the other to capitalize on the other's mistake. Put two offensive minded fighters inside the ring and you have a fight of the year candidate.

I just don't watch boxing for excitment, i try to learn and study. No fights are really boring to me as the fight may not be exciting but it could be a defensive battle, or the fighters could could show good footwork, head movement, skill etc. But exciting fights are good to watch and are good for the sport.

****head of a thread but alright.

                      Exciting is the wrong word.

I'm in awe watching a defensive master making people look remedial while slipping his punches in.
