  • Imagine you're watching a fight between two random boxers...

One night you're bored, channel surfing, and you come to a sports show just as the first round of a boxing match begins. You don't know who either guy is and you know nothing about their background or record.

In the early rounds, boxer 1 shows that he is technically superior, using a solid jab and lateral movement to outbox his opponent, and throwing a few flashy but not particularly damaging combinations. Boxer 2 is aggressive. He isn't as well polished, and most of his punches miss/are blocked, but as the fight wears on, the ones that do land start to have an impact, and boxer 1 slows down a bit, throws less punches, and although he is still ahead on the scorecards, he loses a couple of rounds.

So, going into the final round of the fight, do you cheer for boxer 1 to find the last bit of energy, and box his way to safety and a decision win, or do you hope that boxer 2 finally catches up to him and breaks him down, scoring a KO?

Unsure to be honest... I wouldn't be too bothered as long as it is a great last round.

I'd root for the one Bernard Hopkins told me to root for.

Probably fighter 2 but who they are would play a factor honestly. Even if fighter 1 won I wouldn't be angry or disappointed.

In this situation, I would root for the better boxer to hang on and win....

because if he has proven to me he is clearly better at The Science the majority of the fight, that would mean he DESERVES to win....

as long as the fight is good, I'll support both. This scenario seems to show that fighter 2 is behind, yet makin a strong effort to win, so I'd be more likely to support him.

Most people are a ducker for the underdog, and I can be. Depends on several other happenings in the fight itself, whom I seemed to prefer and stuff. But I spose most likely #2.

Interested as to what's inspired this and whether they'll be a follow up, referencing it to some fights and such. Andrade springs to mind.
