Anyone got any ideas?
How could Floyd beat Hearns?

Staying in the pocket would probably be his best chance, block or slip Hearns' shots and come back with his own short shots, Hearns has a lot of advantages if they're at range and was arguably better on the outside, Hearns wasn't a great inside fighter though, not saying he couldn't hold his own on the inside, he could but it wasn't the strongest part of his game.Comment

Spot on. Fighting Hearns in the pocket would be Floyd's best possible gameplan. His reflexes and athletic ability may be enough to keep him out of danger on the outside for a while, but not for the entire duration of the fight.Staying in the pocket would probably be his best chance, block or slip Hearns' shots and come back with his own short shots, Hearns has a lot of advantages if they're at range and was arguably better on the outside, Hearns wasn't a great inside fighter though, not saying he couldn't hold his own on the inside, he could but it wasn't the strongest part of his game.
Floyd's got a good chin and a strong neck, he can take a punch when he needs to. But taking a punch is one thing, taking a right hand from Tommy Hearns is another.Comment

Do u think he could get close enough to even get one leg in his pocket?Staying in the pocket would probably be his best chance, block or slip Hearns' shots and come back with his own short shots, Hearns has a lot of advantages if they're at range and was arguably better on the outside, Hearns wasn't a great inside fighter though, not saying he couldn't hold his own on the inside, he could but it wasn't the strongest part of his game.
Floyd prefers to stay at range, and i cant see him avoiding Hearns jab there.
Could he land the shots he did against Corrales?Comment

I agree, he wouldn't be able to win the fight on the outside, Hearns had a great jab, a great right hand and a very good hook at range, it would probably only be a matter of time before Hearns hit him with a right hand at range and that would be it for Mayweather.Spot on. That's the tricky part, getting on the inside on Hearns is no easy feat, Hearns' jab was a very hard weapon to get past, even SRL couldn't get past it until late in the fight when Hearns faded badly, it wasn't until he got up to 160 and above that opponents managed to get inside on him more often and even then it wasn't all that common for opponents to get inside on him.
In short, no. Hearns was a much better defensive fighter than Corrales was, maybe Mayweather could land some fast lead right hands because of Hearns' low left, which was kept there on purpose so that he can come back with his own right hand, I don't really see Mayweather leaping in and out at will and landing those shots that he landed on Corrales. Hearns' jab would offset all that.Comment
