It's based on both those two things plus on who is the title holder and who is the challenger. Pac is fighting for Hatton's lineal Jnr. Welterweight title. Hatton isn't fighting for Pac's P4P title, because even if he wins, Hatton wouldn't get the P4P crown.
Well sorry for that if the meaning of "favorite" īn boxing is the way you described it. In my opinion, "favorite" means in boxing is the one (fighter) favored by the majority among the "draws" to where they put their bets on the belief he would win, and it don't counts those just spectators opinions. And nothing to do who is the champion and the challenger!

But Pac blew it by authorising Arum to negotiate a deal on his behalf, and then several weeks after the deal had already been agreed, saying no to it. That just stinks, IMO, and in that situation, I think it's understandable that Hatton would refuse to budge.
As long as Pacquiao has the bigger share i think it would be absolutely alright, either it be at 60-40 or 55-45 or even 51-49 will be alright. The fact is, just recognizing who has the "bigger draw" would settle everything, afterall I believe that the gap on the numbers of their "draws" is not that big!

Hattons biggest Payday was the Money Mayweather Check Hook into the turnbuckle fight. Other then that, Lazcano which was in the UK, Paulie which was FREE on HBO and others in the U.K. and U.S. but no big U.S. PPV.

His fight with Pac is obviously going to generate the same if not more then his biggest payday with Money May. So obviously he wants to get the most out of it, 50-50. After this Pac fight if he looses what other fights in the U.S. can Hatton cash in on. Knowing that Pac will be a WAR and not and easy win, the thought of loosing to Pac will drop Hattons ratings therefore not boosting his PPV power in the U.S. The U.K. thats another story, theyll obviously always support the man, which they did after his lose to Money May.

So what I am getting at here is that Hatton wants the most out of a Pac fight cause its do or die time if the fight happens.

Also, why are we arguing about these pay cuts anyways, its not like anyone of us get a share. Yes, we can express our feelings but seriously folks, bad mouthing each other is ridiculous. Let the folks at TR and GBP handle that biz.

Berto and Collazo tonight, hope to see some fireworks. Last nights SHOBOX lineup was pretty entertaining.

Margarito and Shane next week. I got dollars on Tony the Terminator. Who wanna place bets?

According to one news report, Pac has now been offered 52-48 and turned it down.

Bad news! or maybe just a little bit so early for for the match-up advertisement blitz! Unless the team pacman could see otherwise that hatton team could not afford losing this fight. I wish the deal will be settle early to put everything to rests, and will just wait for the fight to come.
