    Robinson fought at light heavy and almost won. If it wasn't for the heat (105 degrees) he would have won because he was well ahead on the cards. That was the Joey maxim fight where the ref had to be replaced half way through the fight due to collapsing from heat exhaustion. If Sugar had been able to get through the fight, he would have wins from lightweight to light heavy. Unfortunately, he had to give up and didn't come out for the 13th or 14th round. Something like that.

    Robinson = amazing.

        I love watching that fight. Here you have Maxim and Robinson, going at it minute after minute, round after round. And it ends up being the referee who needs a replacement.

          Hehe. I know man. Must have been absolute hell fighting in that kind of heat though.

              Calzaghe's size advantage could pose a little trouble but Robinson would definitely beat Calzaghe.

                Ali and Frazier went through hell in Manila (actually Quezon City), but it wasn't nearly that hot.

                I can't imagine fighting someone in temperature that harsh. Hell when it's in the 90's and I have to cut my damn grass I get exhausted. (A lot of hills, no flat land, all of it needs a weed-eater.)

                  Ray was around 6 feet tall, I think? I know you said "big", but actually Ray would be slightly taller than Calzaghe, and if he could make SMW or LH, I see no problem for Ray. I'm a Joe fan, but damn, Robinson would have beaten the dude up, I'm sure of it.

                    LOL!

                    Jack Johnson also fought in that kind of heat didn't he. The Jess Willard fight -- again 105 degrees. 26 rounds!

                      Robinson was 5'11, Calzaghe is 5'11 but Calzaghe is naturally bigger, Robinson would have won but Calzaghe's size advantage, workrate and awkwardness would pose little problems, nothing major for Robinson, he had tough fights with Randy Turpin because of Turpin's awkwardness.
