  • Clottey: Cintron's fear is stronger than his desire!

    Clottey responds to Cintron!
Says champ: ‘Your fear is stronger than your desire!’

Upon hearing that his mandatory challenger, Kermit Cintron (30-2, 27 KOs), has passed on fighting him, IBF Welterweight Champion Joshua Clottey (35-2, 20 KOs) has issued the following exclusive statement to *********:

“I am disappointed to hear that Kermit Cintron will not fight me. It is the second time he has avoided facing me in the ring, and it is something I cannot comprehend. To be given the opportunity to fight for a world championship and to say “no” means that his fear is stronger than his desire. I have always kept my desire, my hunger. I have always been ready to fight any opponent who is put in front of me. I come from a proud tradition of boxers from Ghana. Men like Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey. Like them, I am a warrior. And I will defend my title against any man. Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, Andre Berto, Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao—I will face them one at a time and I will still be champion. If these fighters want to call themselves the best, and if they want the fans to believe they are the best, then they should stand up and meet me in the ring. For myself and for my homeland, I will be ready to defend my title.”

    Joshua Clottey, IBF welterweight champion

Well I agree 100%. It's a shame that Clottey isn't getting the chances he deserves. IMO he should be considered with the elites at 147.

Clottey is a beast. I wanna see him in a unification fight this yr. I think Marg beats SSM and Cotto, so if Pwill don't come back to 147 to claim his Marg rematch by yrs end, a Clottey rematch is good. I'm sure Clottey would own the Berto-Collazo winner too.

Is it really a surprise? Cintron is a boy trapped inside of a man's body. If Antonio Margarito has shown us anything, it's that Cintron has no heart, and even less balls.

I've never seen a guy look so scared in my life than Cintron in the Margarito rematch. He was ducking down way low, completely bent over, lobbying the referee every chance he got, turning his back to Tony, he's a *****.

Clottey would have whatever is left of his heart.

I agree with Clottey. It's a damn shame what's happening. He deserves respect. He's a beast.

I don't get it! Why in the f.uck can't this guy get a fight? And he's a champion, Pwill and Clottey are the most avoided boxers in boxing right now. They should fight each other, it makes the most sense to me. If this fight does'nt get made in 09 I'm going to be sick! Clottey might have to pull a Pwill and move to 154 just to get a f.ucking fight. Arum needs to get his ass whooped for shelving one of his best fighters for so damn long, **** it might e time to go to GBP.

I think most of the hardcore fans believe he is considered one of the elites. I definitely do. He gives everyone he fights problems. His time will come just like Margarito's did.

I got a solution to his dilema... Joshua Clottey vs Paul Williams at 147 for the IBF belt, the winner gets Margarito, make the f ucking fight happen.
