Right lets put down some simple facts, and who deserves what.
First off lets estimate respective ppv income
Lets say the Hatton-Pac fight does near enough what the Hatton-Mayweather fight did in the U.S.
800,000 x $50 = $40,000,000
Now say the Hatton-Pac fight does near enough what the Hatton-Mayweather fight did in the UK.
1,500,000 x £20 = £30,000,000. Converted into U.S dollars in equals $45,000,000
So the combined U.S and UK PPV of this fight if it equals Hatton-Mayweather is $85,000,000.
Now, I would say that Pacquiao is more popular than Hatton in the U.S, and would attract more buys. Saying that Hatton is still popular with the U.S market judging by the big PPV numbers they got in the Mayweather fight.
Lets give Pac 60-40 of the U.S ppv. That gives Pacquiao an estimated $24,000,000, and Hatton £16,000,000.
Now, Hatton is light years ahead of Pacquiao in terms of popularity in the UK. But because Hatton is fighting someone with the calibre of Pacquaio, more people will be tempted to buy. But Hatton is still the main attraction.
Lets give Hatton 70-30 of the U.K ppv. That gives Hatton $31,000,000, and Pacquaio $13,500,000.
So on PPV sales alone, going on fair figures and splits, Pacquaio would be set to make $37,500,000, and Hatton $47,000,000. However these figures are much higher if you account ticket sales, sponsorship, closed circuit tv, etc. But remember the networks need to get payed too. So these figures are pretty close to overall fight numbers.
Now you should understand why 50-50 is a fair deal. Pac would make the same money as Hatton, and get a career high payday. Looking above, you can see that Pacquiao doesn't bring as much money as Hatton, but he is still asking for a 60-40 split. If Hatton accepted that, it would be like giving Pacquaio money out of his own pocket. Now, I accept that Pacquaio is p4p king, but being p4p king, doesn't carry any belts. Hatton being the champion at 140 offsets this arguement.
Just trying to show some guys on here how the major figures pan out. 50-50 is fair to both guys. Hatton brings the money and 140 championship, while Pacqauio brings the p4p title. 50-50 is the only and fairest way.
