Ricky Hatton: "Junior Witter is an Absolute D**khead"

A lot of people are overlooking the fact that for most of his career Witter has been slagging Hatton off without good reason. There's a good deal of PR & BS banded around by fighters and promoters to get and then sell fights, but Witter has always taken it that bit too far. He made it too personal and the simple truth is Hatton has never needed Witter in his whole career, whereas Witter seemingly became completely obsessed with Hatton.

Why should Hatton give a big payday to someone who has spent the last decade insulting him to the point where it's just embarrassing to see any more?

I'm not sure how anyone can truly be impressed by these remarks. Granted Witter is recently disgraced, but Hatton is using this as an excuse to justify his long history of avoiding him. I no longer care if they fight (they won't, and the fight doesn't even generate much interest anymore), but there's little doubt that Witter put fear into Hatton over the course of his career. The man offered his entire purse should he lose in an attempt to make the fight, and in a ringside confrontation between the two in the past I recall Hatton looked severely intimidated. There's not much more he could have done.

Lazcano certainly was no more of a live opponent than Witter, and Hatton has already shown and is quite proud of his solo drawing power in Manchester (rendering the opponent's ability to do so a non-factor). Regardless, Witter would have been a draw simply for the amount of hate he generated among Hatton fans.

Why Should Ricky fight him because he is from the same country? There are bigger fish out there available to Hatton. He shouldn't waste his time with a scrub because he comes from the same country.

There are more lucrative fights for Hatton those lucrative fights happen to be more entertaining also. Would you rather see Hatton vs Whitter over the likes of Pacquiao, Mayweather ( Possibly Cotto, even Zab).

Cmon Hatton.....this isn't about money its about who has to fight who because they worked hard to deserve a fight with the champ, don't go all ODLH on me now man.

That's exactly what people on here fail to realize. Anyone Hatton has fought in the last 3+ years would beat Witter and Junior knows it. He's just trying to cash in because all that money is sooooooo cloooooooose and he cannot seem to get any by himself.

Witter slagged Ricky off cuz he knew the Hitman was so much more popular, and was making shedloads of £s. He was jealous of his popularity, and his success after Tszyu.
