great great fighter, not a legend
im never going to get my dvds out
and show my son (if i have one) and say "look at this boxing phenom"

Most defensive fighters are not consistently pleasing on the eye.

Jones can be very tedious to watch in fights where he carried his opponents or when his oponents where overmatched, but Jones is a great highlight reel fighter, but that is, because he looks great whooping on guys like Frazier,Lucas,Harris,Telesco,Brannon,Kelly,Hall,Th ornton and little Paz etc etc.

Put Jones in with cagey, awkward, counter punchers or leftys and you see his rhythm broken up and he looks less than great.

Derrick Harmon,Eric Harding,Montell Griffin 1,Tarver even Del Valle done better than he should of against Roy by decking him for the first time.

bernard style is made to capatilize on 1 dimensional opponents
that come forward and lack speed and/or great reflexes
ie:felix trinidad, kelly pavlik, oscar (speed but no reflexes) ,tarver, glen johnson

those are the big names he beat of kourse....and they all have that or those factores in common....

the fighters he will always lose to are fighters
with the complete opposite, speed and great reflexes
ie: roy jones jr, joe calzaghe, jermain taylor, chad dawson (thats why he won't fight him) etc

legends, can adapt to all styles and dismantle them one day or another...
im not asking him to beat everybody, but at least beat 1 GUY that is a
stylistical nightmare for you.... if bernard could have shown me
he was capable of beating a speedy, reflex savy guy, i would give him
      tremendous respect.....

and for people rating bernard over roy as far as all time status goes, it kan go both ways
but i think we kan all agree
bernard is a great fundamentally skilled smart fighter (relying totally on thinking because his athletiscm was easily matched or exceeded)

roy is or was the athletically skilled smart fighter (relied ENTIRELY on athetiscm even tho he had the BRAINS to box, he couldn't change
what he did all his life)

id give roy a slight edge in all time great status
for the simple fact that he was great at beating those
he was supposed to and those who gave him trouble
      (SOUTHPAWS)
      no legend?

      go home

      just go home

The fight against Jones isn't a good example as both fighters were green although to be fair Hopkins was the more greener of the two as he didn't have the same amateur background that Jones had.

All fighters have a certain style they struggle with, it does not mean they are overated.
both were green right, that means they were on the same level
        right, right

he lot to cal and taylor, please get over it

I was expecting this to be criticism on Hop because his biggest wins were against smaller fighters....

I gotta give you credit at least; this was a criticism on Hopkins I've never heard before

He could be called that, because he changed his style after his fights with Mercado, he even said this himself, that he changed his style as a fighter.

let me re introduce my theory....
PRIME BERNARD VS PRIME JOE = WINNER JOE
PRIME ROY VS PRIME JOE = WINNER ROY
this has to make sense to you......
