Santos Withdraws, Sergio Martinez May Go For Forrest

BoxingScene.com has been informed that WBA junior middleweight champion Daniel Santos (32-3, 23KOs) has turned down the opportunity to face WBC interim-junior middleweight Sergio Martinez (44-1, 24KOs) on February 14. But will Forrest go for Martinez? Highly doubtful. Can't blame Forrest. Already nearing the end of the road for him. I dont think he wants challenges.

This is a problem in boxing. Somehow we need stricter rules for fighters that withdraw. Maybe heavy fines. This is the kind of fight that boxing needs.

Why when they just hurt themselves in the process? promoters are gonna be less inclined to pair them up with better fighters and they get stuck with average fights for average pay.

Oh and isn't it ironic that everyone says that Margarito is ducking this guy when Santos himself is clearly is ducking an even lesser fighter.

Yeaaaaa straight up! theres been waay to many fighters withdrawing since November... but depending on the contracts that both parties sign they can specifically state a penalty or fine if a persons withdraws.. but its gotta be in the contract first.. gotta love "business law" lol
