The reason that I and just about every other boxing fan with half a brain looks to the Ring belt as the only real chamionship is because it has no sanctioning fees period. The alphabet titles are nothing more than a private organization that charges fighters to put on their belts and make the orginization millions of dollars. They arn't intrested in crowning an actual champion so gives a **** about them if thats not their goal.

The ring has no sanctioning fees and has only one goal, and thats to crown a one and only champion. If thats flawed then I don't know what the *** you want?
The Ring Magazine is owned by a promoter. If it wasn't Oscar de la Hoya but instead Don King, would that change your tone on the Ring? Why not, they are both promoters, right?

Just because the Ring has no sanctioning fees doesn't mean it can't make GBP money. After all, aren't they lending credability to their own belt while giving Diaz an avenue to avoid Campbell.

And that, is not a good thing for the sport.

      2. Winning the belts from Diaz just made Campbell another contender just like diaz was and still is

And who are these people who consider Nate the Champ at Lightweight. HBO? No!!!! I remember Kellerman actually asking Diaz after he beat fritas when he was gonna fight the recognized champ at lightweight.

      The Associated press???? No!!!! http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...htweights.html
So Juan Diaz doesn't have to avenge his loss to Nate Campbell? He has a free pass to fight everyone else, but the guy who beat him?

Why didn't they tell that to Marco Antonio Barrera after he got KOed by Junior Jones?

The reason you keep seeing Golden Boy fighters fighting one another who have the Ring belt is because they want to keep it in house, bad for boxing.
You wanna talk mandatory fights when Campbell has a joke of a mandatory with Barrera a shot worn out fighter who has done nothing to deserve a shot at the NABF title much less the WBO title. Or how about all the mandatories that have fractured the HW chamionship for the last 5 years.

        bwahahahahahahhahahahaahh!!!!!!!!

But why even have the desire to move up in the rankings if it means nothing, if the champ doesnt have to fight a mandatory. Guys ranked below him cease to exist basically, thats silly. Barrera could win against Campbell also, do you watch boxing?

It's not Juan who makes the decision it's the champ Marquez who makes the decision's.

The reason the Campbell fight didn't happen instead is because Campbell has a mandatory against ***ing Funeka. So if Campbell isn't availiable who's the next best fighter??????

Seriously if this doesn't show you how Alphabet titles are bad for boxing I don't know what does. My bet is Nate Campbell would have got the shot instead of Diaz if it wasn't for those useless belts.

Trust me GBP would rather see Marquez/Diaz instead of Campbell, that way the belt stays in house.

I think he'd lose to Nate again. Nate outworked him all nite long and took his shots without flinchin, gettin tired, or discouraged.

My bet is that Golden Boy Promotions never pushed to get Diaz back into the rankings as a mandatory because they would risk spoiling their hometown draw should he lose again.

Before the Marquez fight was official

Two of the more happier individuals to hear the news of Nate Campbell breaking away from promoter Don King, had to be Juan Diaz and his manager Willie Savannah. This past March, Campbell (32-5, 25KOs) upset Diaz (34-1, 17KOs) in Cancun, Mexico to capture the WBA, WBO and IBF lightweight titles.

“We are not going to sit around and wait for him to decide if he wants to fight Diaz. If doesn’t want the fight and Nate Campbell is available, then we'll fight Nate. I told Richard the other day, if it's Marquez fine, and if it's Nate fine. If Marquez wants to wait, that fine with us. We'll just move on down the road. We have no problem fighting Nate, now that he’s a free agent. The only problem with fighting Nate before was him being with Don King.”

“The best fight in the lightweight division would be Juan Diaz with Juan Manuel and if we can’t make that, then Juan Diaz vs. Nate Campbell. There is nothing else that can come close to those two fights in the lightweight division. Nate is a definite possibility. I know Juan is comfortable fighting with Nate, and I know Nate is comfortable fight with Juan.”
