    • I didn't know being a complete jackass and putting down the sport actually does more for the sport compared to being relevant in the mainstreet and getting the casual fan to be interested in the sport.

Exactly...and that's actually one of his better wins.

and calzaghe took a big risk by coming to the states and fighting hopkins knowing the huge ammount of corruption in las vegas
imo they shoulda fought in a neutral country
From what I remember Tyson also did stuff in the WWE.

Unknown? That's because they were Mediocre or poor boxers!!

I mean come on, his record is awful.

This is what Calzaghe fans consider his best wins to be:
Eubank, (who lost 2 of his last 5 fights. An old Eubank was training for a CW or LH bout i believe, and finally chose to go to SMW late. Lost his next 2 fights and retired)
Robin Reid, (won a very close and debateable SD. Went on to lose to guys like Malinga and Ottke (lol). Wanted a rematch, Calzaghe refused)
Lacy, (very over-rated, Had this guy gone on to become Undisputed champion in the division, the fairplay to Calzaghe, but he's just become fodder in the division. Last i hear he was schooled silly by Taylor.) Makes you cringe when Calzaghe fans bring up Lacy as a big win, especially on a Boxing forum.
Kessler,(imo Calzaghe's best win. But again, who has he beaten. Has had one "Big" fight, and lost, that was to Joe.)
Hopkins, ( The guy is 43 and was close to retiring for real this time. Even then, many had Hopkins winning the bout, including Associated Press, ESPN and Yahoo Sports), Calzaghe flips out whenever his name is mentioned and always dismissed a rematch.
RJJ, ( Is 40, Lost 3 of his last 6 bouts, career was as good as over when he was KO'd by Tarver 4 years earlier)

              Hopkins has beaten:
              Allen (2 times),
              Glen Jonhson (who was undefeated),
              Echols,
Trinidad, (undefeated and was expected to KO Hopkins)
              Joppy,
              De La Hoya,
              Eastman,
              Winky,
Tarver, (was expected to Humiliate Hopkins was favorite in nearly everyones books)
              and Pavlik. ('nuff said)

Now don't get me wrong, im not saying Joe is a bad fighter, he is talented. But that's just it. He had the oppurtunity to go Prime v Prime with the likes of RJJ, Hopkins, Tarver, maybe even Winky and Toney.

But he was set on fighting in half-empty stadiums defending his shabby WBO belt. i mean it took him 10 years to unify the division. Then as soon as calls for him to meet Pavlik came, the biggest disgrace happened. His "Fear of Flying" was suddenly cured, and he went to go against 2 passed it legends, who at the combined age are 43.

Not to mention the fact that as soon as he sacked his promoter Warren, Warren laid down the gauntlet and expose Joe there and then, saying how he always wanted to pull out of bouts due to being nervous. He was scared of a loss like it was a bullet.

He is a much better boxer than Hatton, but Hatton gets more respect for going Prime v Prime against Mayweather. Sure the Money blinded him, and he got KTFO senseless, but look at his fans, and look at the handful of fans that Joe has.

Hatton may have a humuliating loss, but has got a lot more respect. Calzaghe on the other hand, undefeated, yet will not get recognition except from the Casual British boxing fan.

BTW, im not looking at race or anything, im British, i dont care where you are from, i like to look at things how they are.

So yeah, it is no comparison, IMO at least.
this is about whose done more for boxing things like attendancies fans etc calzaghe wins .
