Has Joe's reputation got worse or better since the Jones fight ?

This is the price you pay for beating Jones. Tarver got no props and he was the first one to legitimately beat Roy, and that was a fading Roy, but he still had a bit left.
Calzaghe fought a B/C class Jones, because thats what happens when you are shot or you get old you come down in levels.Comment

i think it did.Has Joe's reputation got worse or better since the Jones fight ?
I believe its got worse, as a matter of fact i predicted it would, because for one, Roy is universally loved by majority of Boxing fans and when Tarver beat him it did Tarver no favours either. Tarver became public enemy number 1 for beating Jones.
Calzaghe fought his 2nd fight in the States against another 40 + year old who whos career was done in 2004.
hopkins was a good win.
hopkins although old was still competitive and was the champ at 175.
fighting roy hurt his resume though.
there was no reason for it.
roy was shot years ago.Comment

I think Calzaghe's rep has stayed mostly the same. It didn't suffer but it didn't benefit from the fight either. What's interesting is there isn't really any great demand from his detractors to see him fight anyone and there is also very little demand from his fans to fight again.Has Joe's reputation got worse or better since the Jones fight ?

Yep
You are correct.
Also fighting poor mandatorys that dont deserve to be in the ring can actually hurt your legacy rather than enhance it, even when you have no choice, because you risk losing your belt.Comment

thats because joe is not an attraction in the usa..no 1 cares what the guy doesI think Calzaghe's rep has stayed mostly the same. It didn't suffer but it didn't benefit from the fight either. it depends, but for this generation yea it hurt his career
he wants to be recognised as a great, so he picks a shot roy jones who is 3-3 on his last six fights
i dunno how he thought that would prove he is a great, i still think all he did was fight bums and the great fighters he fought were past itComment
