Most fans have called the bout between Miguel Cotto and UK's Michael Jennings a mismatch. Cotto refuses to listen to the chatter by looking ahead to a planned June rematch with Antonio Margarito. He takes on Jennings on February 21 at New York's Madison Square Garden. The vacant WBO welterweight title is on the line. The fight is part of a Top Rank split-feed pay-per-view, paired with Kelly Pavlik's defense of the middleweight titles against Marco Antonio Rubio in Ohio. [details]

Haven't there already been like 6 articles on the subject of Cotto not overlooking Michael Jennings? I tied my shoes today, but you don't see me writing an article about things I'm supposed to do anyway.
So Cotto's not gonna overlook him. Big fucking whoop. Does he want a pat on the back? The only thing that matters is how he performs in the ring.

With that said, you are right, we can only see limited things with this Jennings Opponent. I hoped that Cotto would be matched tougher like against a Cintron or even Clottey, because those are two opponents that would really expose Cotto if he has been broken by Tony, and if he could have stayed in there with a beast like Clottey or a puncher like Cintron, such would have given us a better indication of his chances with Margarito. I think that they were too quick to call for a rematch, or Arum was to fast in doing so, with Margarito. Cotto needs to find himself and test himself against other fighters, learn more techniques, and then step to Antonio again. No reason he should be thinking about Tony right now before he knows whether he can go the distance with at top 10 opponent again.

i dont think any elite fighter needs a tune up, tune ups should be sparring partners, their is only a few fighters that can beat elite fighters, we shouldnt pay or wait for cotto to fight elite fighters because of a official sparring partner fight,
