Miguel Cotto the next Jermain Taylor?

On July 26, 2008, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada, Cotto suffered his first loss as a professional boxer to Antonio Margarito in an unsuccessful title defense. That being said former Middleweight champion Jermain taylor who was at the top of his game and also undefeated ,fought Kelly Pavlik and was Ko'd in the first fight and beatin by ud in the 2nd fight. My question is will what happend to taylor happen to cotto, meaning in cotto's upcoming rematch with the man that brought him down from grace, beats him lets say again in the second fight shatter his whole career? and like taylor people not see him as a threat as he once was considered and I hate 2 say it fall off the map? meaning everybody just forgets what he once was,and never considered for another big PPV? is he the next taylor or will the fallen warrior regain his status as an elite boxer?

Jermain Taylor's career is shattered? Wake the **** up and learn the difference between a setback and "forgotten".

Cotto will be fine and so will Taylor.

I don't think Cotto would lose all his credibility, but comming back up would be tough.

Taylor wasn't shamed by either loss to Kelly. Some thought he even won the rematch. He's on track to winnin his next belt in his new division. Taylor is doin just fine. Cotto's career might be in trouble after the rematch wit Marg tho.

I think Cotto may well wind up like Davey Moore after his fight with Roberto Duran, David Reid after his fight with Felix Trinidad or like Meldrick Taylor after his first (and second) fight with Julio Cesar Chavez. The kind of damage Cotto took is irreversible and potentially career-ending, if not just in the physical sense, insofar as his fighting spirit. Once beaten, a fighter finds it easier to quit in subsequent fights. Of course I hope I'm wrong, but even holding and hitting Margarito instead of boxing and backpeddling in a second fight, will expend a great deal of energy, and Cotto has shown the tendency to fade very late in close tough fights as he did against both Margarito and Mosley. Mosley just didn't apply enough pressure and cut off the ring in the championship rounds to finish Cotto like Margarito did.

To be honest Pavlik is in a worse position than Taylor..... Jermain beat Hopkins before he lost to a prime middleweight contender in Kelly while Pavlik lost to an ancient relic. Taylor can still build a career off of his loss but Pavlik could never outlive his defeat.

Cotto fans can use a triangle theory to feel better about Miguel's loss to Margarito.

Cotto beat Quintana who beat Williams who beat Margarito therefore Cotto is greater than Margarito!
