Ali is recognized for a lot of good things inside and outside (civil rights) the ring. Mike, unfortunately for him, isn't perceived this way.

Pretty damn impressive especially considering he had 3 1/2 years of his prime taken from him. One of the few old greats that would be at the top of any era.

You must be nuts, on crack, or just plain ****** if youre comparing Mike Tyson to Ali, Mike was just a harder puncher thats it. Ali was faster, Better Conditioned (15 rounds) and had a more impressive boxing carreer. Not to mention outside the ring, He is one of the most influential persons in the world not just sports....Dont ever put them in the same sentence son

Indeed, it was a shame we never got to see Ali during that period, I think we would have seen something incredibly special during that period but what we've seen from him is already incredibly special so I'm not complaining. It was also great that he was able to come out on top during the golden age of heavyweights while arguably being past his prime.

He proved his greatness by reinventing himself to make up for his diminished speed/reflexes as he got older. Watching him against Cleveland Williams, it's hard to imagine him losing to anyone. I think he would've reached his absolute peak about a year or two later. I could've done without his last two fights, though I'm not sure how much that would've affected his condition, if at all.

Definitely, I think he was one of the greatest at adapting his own style, it's pretty amazing seeing how he changed and adapted his style as his career went on.

I agree, I think he was unbeatable that night against Williams and we probably would have seen many more of those performances had he not had those 3 years taken away from him. I would have loved to see Ali-Frazier during that period.

I personally think that he shouldn't have fought on after the third Frazier fight, he was still winning fights but something was missing after that fight and he took more and more punishment as the years went on, which greatly attributed to his present condition IMO, the last 2 fights were just sad to watch, he was a shell of his former self.

Then again, maybe he wouldn't be remembered as he is today had he not fought on after Manila and kept winning fights.

It would be truly absurd to think that ALI wasn't the greatest. My advice to those who think otherwise is to watch his films. Watch his interviews, fights, post-fights, pre-fights, training and anything else regarding the living legend and you'll see why he's considered the greatest of all time.

No other fighter to this day has even come close. Some might consider Mayweather, but i disagree. Not because i'm a hater, but because in order to be considered on of the greatest, you have to be adored outside of the ring as well. However, in ALI's time he was considered a radical and a reble because of his acts. He's also been considered the bad guy. So i can see how people would put Mayweather and ALI in the same sentence.

ALI stood for something. He represented the people who didn't have the strength to fight back and stand up for themselves. He was a shield for justice. When ALI fought it brought a sense of hope and encouragement.

His classic fights: Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Patterson, Cooper, Quarry, and others distinguished ALI as a gentleman, a warrior, a boxer, a surgeon, and graceful.

                      Yeah, ALI's aiite.
