Tony can make WW with no problems so I've no problems with him fighting there. Naturally, I think Tony could easily fight at 154 or 160 and he probably will eventually but the money is at 147 right now.

Yeah its not that im saying he does not have a good chin naturally, but what i am saying is he would not be taking those flush shots off a guy is own size if he were fighting at his natural weight div. And his skills wouldn't do him any favours either.

Chances are if he was fighting in his "natural" weight class from the beginning and he couldn't take all the punches at 160-154 then he wouldn't fight the way he does

I think people dont give Margarito the credit he deserves. He is a normal welterweight. Cotto is a small welterweight. The others, Cintron, Clottey, Quintana, etc. have small disadvantages if any. In history at welterweight, the best at the division have been around Margaritos height. Tito was 5'11 also and he was a normal middleweight, the reason he stayed at WW for so long was because he started his career at an early age and became a champion at 20 years old. If Margarito has no trouble making 147 it must be because its his normal weight, so I dont see a reason to force him to fight at 154.

I agree if he fought at middleweight he would get beat down by the top fighters. Yes, his size advantage is what makes him good at welterweight. If he fought in the 160lb division, he'd be fighting on just pure will because he doesnt have the skill to compensate for the lack of size and strength in that division.

But he makes welterweight. He seems to make it rather comfortably, as he does not appear weight drained in his fights.

He is able to walk through punches, because he should be no where near the WW div. Take away Margarito's physical advantages he is an average fighter.

When Marg has faced guys his own size he has looked bad or been beaten, Clottey/Williams.

You're making too big a deal about his size its his chin thats the problem. If he anybody elses chin Cotto would have KOd him in 4. The only reason he cant last with the big boys is that 160lbers hit way harder not because they are taller.
