    No

Hopkins has a skillset to be effective at a lot of weight div. Margarito does not.

So if you have boxing skills you are allowed to fight at the weight you want, but if you dont have boxing skills, then you have to fight in a higher weight? Nonsense!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fighters fight in the division they feel most comfortable in, and that's their natural weight division.

Besides it being a cowardly thing to do its also dangerous and if its dangerous its a bad advertisement for Boxing when something goes wrong.

He is able to walk through punches, because he should be no where near the WW div. Take away Margarito's physical advantages he is an average fighter.

When Marg has faced guys his own size he has looked bad or been beaten, Clottey/Williams.

so whats his excuse for crying and quitting in the 1st fight
and getting beat down again in the 2nd, KO'ed quicker actually
I think If anyone is going to back Margarito, that's fine.. More power to you.
He can make the weight then he can make the weight...but then don't go to the Oscar De La Hoe thread and say "Oscar was weight drained its not fair" "Oscar could have beat Pac if this and that" YOU GUYS KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!
REMEMBER OSCAR MADE THE WEIGHT TOO...LOL.

Margarito is just one of many, many fighters who exploit the modern day rules which allow weigh-ins a couple of days before the fight. It means they can boil down to unnatural weights, and then have time to rehydrate themselves and probably enter the ring 10-12lbs over the divisional limit, leading to some horrible mismatches.

How else could De La Hoya, a natural welter, win titles at 130 and 135? There's no way he could fight healthily at those weights were he forced to weigh in the same day. Likewise Gatti, whose ring weight for his "140lb" bout against Joey Gamache was 160.

Restore same-day weigh-ins and we'll go back to having fighters fight where nature intended.
