As a fan, I would love to see this fight. I don't know why there are any problems broadcasting it, but these are two top Welterweights that I and I know a lot of other boxing fans are interested in watching (Just take a trip to BoxingScene.com or any other Boxing website). This is what boxing and more specifically the welterweight division needs to become more exciting and to finally take that step forward in crowing a Welterweight undisputed champion in the absence of Floyd Mayweather. So once again, if at all possible, please air this fight on your channel!!
Shouldn't the emails be to HBO and Showtime since they are the ones that aren't interested? The only reason Versus hasn't bid on it is because they haven't got their budget for 2009.

Good point, I wonder if HBO can afford to host his fight? They probably could definitely make it a part of a double header, but maybe their isnt a big enough fan base to carry the fight alone with mediocre undercards. Also, they are not running alot o PPVs this year so I wonder if all of the good fights that are non-PPVs are killing HBO's budget.
In contrast, showtime should be able to host it. Other than the Vic-Arce fight, their schedule does not seem full at all.

They can definitely afford the fight, but since neither are big names they aren't interested. I heard it has a chance of landing on the Cotto & Pavlik doubleheader, which would definitely strengthen that card, but there is probably more money if a network picks it up. Showtime lacks good fights so the reason they probably haven't jumped on this is because the promoters and fighters might be asking for too much or because it's more of a main undercard fight then main event.
Last year they spent way more for non ppv's (Hopkins-Calzaghe, Oscar-Forbes) so they can't be killing themselves with the fights they've done since they have the same budget as last year.
I am a very knowledgeable boxing fan and very avid Versus viewer. You bring a breathe of fresh air to boxing and MMA. I am emailing you this in reference to the Clottey vs Cintron fight. Neither one of the "big" channeles want to pick it up and show this fight. But with fights such as Adamek vs Cunningham, The Contender, and WEC you are the MAJOR network for boxing. This fight should be on Versus. It has your name spelled all over it.
Verus stands for Quality. Stands for Excitement. Stand for THE FAN. Thats why I believe this fight should be picked up and shown by the ONLY true and unbiased network television chsnnrl that their is. Furthermore, it is a chance to bring more people back to not only your channel but to boxing period. Espn, HBO, and Showtime have all cut budgets and are not bringing half of the excitement back to contact sports, as you guys are.
I have a strong belief that you are what boxing needs. And like it is so commonly said in boxing "this is your time to step up and show the big boys you mean business". I compare you guys to the small mom and pop shop on the corner that is more booming than the major retailers because of the type of bond (for lack of a better term) that the regulars form with this channel. Quality, Excitement, and standing for the fan is a staple of the channel that can easily be seen by the way that the channel is broadcast, unbiased commentating, and the general over all feel of the channel. I just happen to feel that this fight epitomizes everthing that Versus is about.
A Loyal fan and viewer of Versus,
Adrian De La Garza
I like the fact people are doing things like this to give the networks a kick in the ass, lets not forget if it wasn't for the fans emailing HBO Margarito vs Cotto would'nt have a countdown show.
