How is Winky going to counter Williams when he has no power? Also Winky wasn't countering Taylor when Taylor was throwing his 1, 2's (left jab and straight right). Williams will fight exactly the same way except that he's a southpaw. You counter Williams by moving in angles (away from his jab) and throwing the overhand left, like what Quintana did. Wright doesn't move in angles to counter Williams, he has a high guard defense and counters with the right jab or straight left. And he will have a hard time doing that since Williams has a longer reach.Williams volume will go way down once he starts getting countered by Winky (not to mention he'll have a tough time cracking WWs guard.) As long as his age, the inactivity, and the coming back down in weight don't hurt WW too much, this fight will be a lot closer than people think. Don't count Winky out just yet.Last edited by Boxingwizard; 01-05-2009, 05:46 AM.Comment

Agreed. I think Wright's age and the inactivity could seriously hamper his timing. Winky was never a defensive wizard IMO but rather a southpaw Ike Quartey which is pretty problematic in itself. Wright has the better D though. How is Winky going to counter Williams when he has no power? Also Winky wasn't countering Taylor when Taylor was throwing his 1, 2's (left jab and straight right). Williams will do what he did against Margarito - use his legs. Old or not, Winky is a dangerous opponent. If Williams stands in front of him, he'll get jabbed to death, and maybe sliced up in the process. I'm guessing Paul will box, move and shoot combos. If he wears Winky down, so be it but I don't see a stoppage occurring. It'll be competitive but this version of Winky isn't the guy I'd pick over a Williams who has shown various dimensions to his game.Comment
