Frankie Randall beat an old past his prime Chavez, you all know that. And Taylor, he got KTFO. Chavez broke his face and sent him to the hospital for a week, much like what happened to Cotto in the Margarito fight.
Uhhhh he fought Taylor after Randall...duh. 1994 wasnt exactly past his prime...he was in his prime. And please everyone knows that Taylor won like 10 rounds of that fight and got rocked in the end (last 10 seconds). None of this is my opinion this happened. Fact. And I dont remember ever hearing Chavez used Plaster..to send someone to the hospital.

Chavez was on the slide by the time he fought Randall and Taylor. IMO
I got hold of a load of his earlier fights, and when by 94 he wasnt as quick or able to fight 3 mins of 12 rounds like he had a few years earlier.
Frankie Randall did....and if you saw the Taylor fight ..you know whats up.
I wont mention Whitaker because he had more defense and speed, but less power than Cotto plus the end was controversial.
Miguel Cotto is not nearly as fast as Meldrick Taylor (only money May is) so that comparison is invalid. yeah, Frankie Randall beat him but so did Margarito to Cotto.
Now plaster or not, JCC is a better stalker than Margarito, a better body puncher, a better mover and we all saw what pressure did to Cotto!
JCC would stalk Cotto until he quits on his stool.
NB! One more thing, Frankie Randall didn't beat a prime JCC. We're talking prime here....
Cotto fighting someone his own size is already an advantage.
Much respect for Julio Cesar Chavez and his accomplishments. He was a seek and destroy fighter who had trouble with guys that can move well and box which is what Cotto is best at (plus he has power). Cotto is better than Frankie Randall, and I believe as good as Hoya. Cotto's skill is about as good as Meldrick Taylor (minus a little speed). If Frankie could beat Chavez and Hoya destroyed him, Meldrick Taylor had that fight in the bag minus the last 10 seconds then Cotto wins. Cotto Decision but close 114- 112...because I have much respect for Chavez.
Wow! You and Champion PR Overated Cotto to the extreme. Cotto is a damn good fighter but wow, reading that made me sick
Prime Duran stops a Prime Chavez at 135lbs or 140lbs. But at the end of the day its really really hard to judge Chavez because of all the fodder thats on his record. But he was a damn exciting fighter to watch.

Im glad you realize that is an opinion. I thought he had alot left in his tank.

The Taylor comparison I already said Cotto did not have the speed of Taylor. So that makes your comment on the subject invalid. AND I THOUGHT THIS WAS A A DISCUSSION ON HONEST GOOD FIGHTERS, How did Margaritos name slither up in here...he is a dishonest cheater. Any one with great punch output with a little plaster can walk down some good fighters..as for "stool quiting" The most recent ones seem to be from a certain part of the world. Rubio, De La hoya,Marquez, I remember Chavez too.

I remember watching many and I mean many fights with Chavez fight "Jennings type fighters" Its ridiculous. Chavez was great and technically sound like Barrera. But he was hyped ...I mean look at his son taking the same route ...guess where he got that from? duh

So are the PR boxers he beat...were they nobodies?? Comon now, even I would admit that Trinidad was a great fighter. Even if he was PR.
Chicano this "Just like the PR's is getting old"You should really try and expand your vocabulary ...that question you ask puts you in a lose lose situation all the time you ask it. If we say yes they were bums you still dont acknowledge the Chavez hype...If we say they were great you downplay the PR's he fought anyway....so stop it already its boring. Relax not everything is Mexico vs. Puerto Rico
