At one time, Rouke visited former world middleweight boxing champion Carlos Monzon in Argentina, where Monzon was serving a prison sentence for killing his common-law-wife. Rourke was rumored to have sparred with Monzon there in prison, but photos of Rourke's visit (which appeared in Argentine newspapers and magazines) fail to support this claim.

btw, his new movie The Wrestler is pretty awesome, just watched it the other night. It's directed by Daron Aronofsky who is also directing The Fighter, which is the Irish Mickey Ward story. Definitely watch both.
