Whats the big deal about a fighter quitting on his stool?

I'm no Oscar fan but what other choice did he have in the Pacman fight when his trainers, HBO announcers, and Boxing officials were all telling him to Pac(No pun intended) it in? He wasn't in the fight for one second he was taking shot after shot so my question is why does this effect his career in any way? How does this take away from his past accomplishments?

Is it really worth it to see a fighter get killed all in the name of having ammunition to discredit his accomplishments on a messsage board? I have seen mindless idiots on this board try to discredit fighters like Chavez Sr and Duran because they quit in match's but my question is why should they have to take needless damage when it's obvious to the whole world that they are gonna lose no matter what and they are simply risking their health by delaying the inevitable.

And you people wonder why UFC is fist ***ing boxing into the ground.

    You don't quit, period.
This is not UFC, where you tap out like a little *****.
In boxing, you fight to the death.

It kills his career because he lost to a much smaller man who had no business beating let alone STOPPING him. It means Oscar lost all his biggest fights, even the ones he was SUPPOSED to win easily like this one.

Sometimes people make too big a deal about this sport being a gladiator sport, sometimes it's just the smart thing to do to fight another day.

It doesn't take away from his accomplishments.

Mike Tyson quit against Kevin McBride. Did it take away from his accomplishments?

There is a difference between "quitting" and calling a halt to a beating. Duran quit against Leonard, Oscar got beat up. There is a big difference.
