This is not UFC, where you tap out like a little *****.
In boxing, you fight to the death.
Wrong!!! You are so ***ing wrong that you should be shot for being so ***ing ******!! God forbid you have any kids.

A boxing match is not a matter of life and death!! It's a ***ing sport!!!

There is not one reason in the world for any person to leave his kids fatherless, their wifes widows, or their parent childless all in the name of a sport.

Give me one reason why a sport is more important than life you souless ***!!!!

Its this type of thinking that robbed the boxing world of fighters like Ali and Joe Frasier growing old gracefully and still talking **** about each other.

I have seen the all time greats in this sport retire on their stool, Ray Robinson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Willie Pep, Pernell Whitaker, Roberto Duran, Kostya Tszyu, even the old timers such as Joe Gans and Sam Langford.

There's no shame in it when you've given it your best and there's just nothing left.

Don't be a goon. If you've ever been a long time champion that rarely, if ever lost a pro fight but suddenly got old and couldn't do what you used to, then you may know that it is suddenly a very different thing.

Have you ever actually been badly hurt? Not just once in one fight but over and over in the same fight and there was nothing you could do?

I'll never understand the idiocy related with 'Never quit!', 'Die in the ring before you quit!' It's all by guys that are desperate to pretend that's what they would do, but have never actually been severely hurt in the ring and not been able to do a damn thing about it or stop the pain/beating or, even worse, getting beaten up by a young kid who you probably would have knocked the ****e out of ten years previous.

A young guy quitting is also different to an older long time champion that is done or tired, or just doesn't care anymore. Everyone does it, and there is no difference to someone quitting on the stool, or lying on their back knowing they could get up but don't. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, because if you're just going to needlessly get hit, there is no point. This is sport and it's their livelihood.

Certain people always seem to be brought up, but you'll probably find that one of that same persons favourite fighters has quit before. Liston, Ali, Pryor, Duran, Chavez, Oscar, Kostya Tszyu, Judah, Cotto, Buster Douglas, Bruce Seldon.........

Hey, even Gerald McClellan quit. He quit in his fight against Benn, what a ***** *****!

Ahhh, yes, Manchine, don't forget Whitaker. The dirty quitting little *****.

No it didn't but what i'm saying it shouldn't take away from any fighter. Even in say Duran's case where he had no answer for Sugar Ray. He was losing by a mile he wasn't gonna touch the guy so why go on?

Are you gonna call a construction worker who is tired of risking his life on top of skysc****rs a ***** because he quit his job???

I was going to say something, but I couldn't have said it better than that. We are blessed here with some courageous posters who would never quit though.

There is a diffrence between supposed to and being favored. He was supposed to win his pro debut but he was just favored against Manny big diffrence.

Also in almost all of his biggest fights he was the underdog so according to your logic he was SUPPOSED to lose those fights anyways so if anything its a testement to the man taking on the best his entire career no matter if he won or lost.

The only people who moan about this are generally people who have never stepped into a ring themselves. It's not a good feeling having your brain knocked around and knowing in the back on your mind that people have suffered permanent damage or even died from taking a beating, there's no shame in calling it a day when this happens.
