I think the return of Floyd Mayweather Jr. is GREAT for boxing.

Not just for his actual boxing talent and skill (which helps obviously).


Love him or hate him his loud/outspoken personality and flashy attitude create buzz in the boxing world.

My view of floyd (outside the ring) is an attempt to be the modern day version of ali (however i think he's taken it out of context and a little too far) but the similarities are there...

it gives boxing fans something to talk about and it gives the general public reasons to follow some fights and stories to gain their interest.

whether floyd comes back and say beats pacman or whether he comes back and loses its going to be good for boxing either way.

the ppv numbers should be enormous...the 24/7 should get better ratings than 98% of all the other hbo countdown shows in the last couple years and so on.

its going to definately create a buzz amoung the dedicated and casual fans.
