Lennox Lewis , best ever ?

i often wonder who is the best heavyweight ever. i am a massive mike tyson fan, i also like jake lamotta and mayweather (even tho they aint heavy weights i know). but even though i would like to imagine no heavyweight in their prime could handle a prime mike tyson, lewis is maybe the only man ever to have been able to do this. because even with his fast bobbing and weaving , he was never ever going to land a bg punch .
could ali have got past his massive jab , lewis didnt have the best chin (by far) but when in his zone, he stopped everyone anyone could throw at him, best holyfield clearly twice, came back to put right the losses to mcall ad rahman and basically was a awesome 'boxer'. At this time calazge is ruling the planet and will never be defeated, even if he does slap. could anyone beat a prime lewis ?

Foreman may be the best bet IMO, Holmes and Ali also seem to be the two that strike me as being able to but I wouldn't bet on it. I'd proberbly take Foreman as the most likely.

top 10 - i think you can make a very goo argument for him being a top 5.

if they were to fight i can see ali having a real problem with lewis. its hard to compare fighters from different era's, they were a completely different size and fought in different times. ali took on the best and never could be accused of ducking someone, his resume reads like a whos who of the heavyweights - foreman, liston, frazier etc.

boht guys are great champs though, lewis overcame the odds as well in securing his legacy as a great heavy, he fought the best from his era and defeated most of them. the mark of an underrated sportsman is that you appreciate them more when they're gone. the one quip i have with lewis is he didn't take on the best version of tyson but thats me being over critical.

hers how i rank the heavy's, remember the rankings here are based on what they achieved at the time, rather than how they would do in hypothetical match-ups:
                1 - ali
                2 - joe louis
                3 - marciano
                4 - foreman
                5 - lewis

Is this thread serious? I've never heard someone assert or even ponder whether if Lennox Lewis was the best ever. Come on. Everyone and their momma knows that ALI is the best ever.

Remember to be the best you have to fight the best too. Lewis did not by any stretch of the imagination face the competition Ali faced. Remember, Ali only lost 5 times. Two of those losses occurred at or after the age of 37 and were not revenged; Berbick and Holmes. The rest of the losses he revenged, including prime Frazier, Ken Norton, and Spinks (cannot believe he came back and won that fight given his condition).

There are so many HWs that rank above LL it is crazy, in any event you should never put Lewis in front of Ali or Joe Louis; it just should not be done.

Not a top 10 fighter for me

Lewis would cum up short against ali or holmes imo. The man lost to rahman for god sake. Lewis was a very good, technically gifted fighter but not a top 10 in my opinion. His jab would have severly tested the likes of prime tyson and frazier due to the reach advantage but i think holmes and ali would have the intangibles to neutralise his jab and come up wit sumtin to trump it. I wont include marciano, johnson, dempsey and louis etc due to lack of footage available to truly rate them personally. Foreman was to strong for ali until tiring in the jungle but i cant imagine lewis being able to 'pull of the rope a dope' and take that amount of punishment.
