I think Mayweather realised that he couldn't fight Hatton the way he fought Baldomir, because Hatton was a lot quicker on his feet.

Look at the first round of Hatton-Collazo. If you get hit with a punch while you are going backwards, it can lead to a KD even if it is not that powerful and you are not hurt. Hatton is pretty good at that kind of thing.
