Pavlik, Khan, Peter, Cotto - Redemption in 09

Several fighters were on top of the world and saw their stock come crashing down in 2008. All of them are young enough to recover and reclaim the footing they lost in the last twelve months. We take a look at some of the names who were red hot in 2008 and saw their stocks take a big hit. [details]

I hope Pavlik can bounce back, I like that dude. I have a feeling he'll go up to the next level after his boxing lesson from Hopcake. Fighting an old master like that will either make you or break you. Hopefully for Kelly, it'll be the former.

To be honest in doesn't look good for any of those guys. Pavlik has the best chance of bouncing back, especially as AA is having problems making the MW limit these days. If he fought AA at a catch-weight or SMW I think AA would win pretty easily, but while he's drained at 160 Pavlik has a good chance because that's the weight Pavlik's best at.

Khan has got some top notch skills and amazing handspeed but unfortunately doesn't have the chin/punch resistance to fight at the top level.

Peter, don't make me laugh. Crap fighter who is going absolutely nowhere even in this era of **** HW's.

It's going to be a make or break year for Cotto, he'll pick up an easy world title via brutal knockout over Jennings but Margarito is all wrong for him. Cotto needs to show a significant improvement in stamina and stay off the ropes, easier said than done. To beat Margarito he needs to execute the perfect gameplan. I favour Margarito in the rematch but Cotto can win if he's not scarred and corrects his mistakes from the first fight.

Im upset with Mijares performance. It looked like he underestimated Darchinyan way too much and even show boated at times acting macho. That really didnt impress me due to the fact that Vicky was landing some hard shots.

Im not a fan of Darchinyan and never really liked his style but after the Mijares upset, ill definitely keep an eye out Vics career.

Interesting article. I did giggle for awhile having read the title, because I thought the Peter, was referring to Peter Manfredo.

To be fair, all of the guys mentioned in this article have recieved genuine losses to hopfully learn from. If Hopkins was still at MW he'd **** Pavlik as bad so I still think Pavlik is pretty over hyped I'm afraid, though probably the best MW right now. Cotto; as a fan unfortunately I don't see how hes gona get by the huge Margarito 2nd time around. Hopefully he does though, and good luck to Khan.

Apart from that, I'm not exactly holding back the tears. But then I am a heartless bastard..

Peter is probably done,Pavlik needs to learn to work behind the jab,Khan got ****y,probably wont happen again,Cotto may just be to small to tangle with Margarito,he should train to keep his back off the ropes and beaf up his stamina!!Cottos skills are there, his roadwork wasnt!!

Cotto will do very good in 09, if he take care of bussines in june, he will be good to go.

As far as Pavlik, there are only 2 fighters that can beat him at 160 Abraham and Sturm, if he get past doesnt 2 he will have 20 defenses run, the division is not that strong.

I see Khan getting redemption, this guy is so hated in here is not even funny. He have lots of talents, and he will be a champ by the end of 09 or early 2010. He lost he to the hands of a devastating puncher, I hope he learns from this!!!!

Mijares I think is on the uphill, he got manhandled by Vic, he needs to step back in the ring as sooon as posible, but he wont get a big match for a while, Darchinyan,Montial and Donaire are all set for 09, I like Mijares but I dont see back at the top, not because of lack of talent(Wich he have tons of it) its just the way the division is moving!!!!!

As far as Peter, anybody have a chance in the HW division, if Valuev is a champ, Peter could be champ again!!!!!
