The Pavlik fight is irrelevant. Hopkins was on 100% and had a great night.That's hard to come by at 43 if not impossible for most. He looked old and slow against Calzaghe and Wright. That Pavlik fight was an exception you twat. Not the rule. Calzaghe beat a 43 year old who looked his age that night. He won by the skin of his teeth. Not very impressive in my eyes.

Am I alone in wondering who all these people supposedly claiming Calzaghe has an 'iron chin' actually are? I can't recall even the biggest Calzaghe fans here (or 'nuthuggers', depending on your point of view) doing that.

The simple fact is we don't know, although it's unlikely anybody going 46-0 is likely to have a glass chin. So he's been knocked down; that means bugger all as in all cases he has recovered quickly and gone on to win.. not a trait of the glass chinned. The only people you tend to positively identify as iron-chinned are those who tend to get hit a lot (Froch springs to mind in the division) - which Calzaghe does not.

No, I've seen quite a few people say he's got an iron chin. I mean, I'm a hater and all so this may seem like I'm, er, hating but truthfully, alot of people claim his chin to be granite.

Before Hops/RJJ, there were alot of people, even non-nuthuggers, who thought it was iron. And even since then, people have said the same on here, reasoning his recuperative powers after the KDs prove it even further.

I mean, in those ridiculous threads discussing a Wlad vs Calzaghe match-up, his fans actually cited his chin a reason why he had a good chance. If you don't believe me, look those threads up.

Personally, I think his chin is pretty good. Not as amazing as alot of people thought, but it's very solid, IMHO. His recuperation powers are very good.

Anyway, back to your original point, I would say that the original post and thread is not some fanciful claim from a hater trying to make Calzaghe fans look ridiculous - ALOT of his fans do think his chin is granite. Seen it been said plenty of times.
