Jermain might also be the biggest hitter kessler is fighting also.

    1. It's not an excuse when he really won.
    2. He really did break his hand and missed weeks of sparring.
    3. How many Kessler fights have you seen?
    4. Kessler admitted in the post interview that he was frustrating to fight and he broke his rhythm. He learned from his mistakes and has been calling Calzaghe out for a rematch.
    5. If anything, Kessler is bigger and stronger than Pavlik, and quicker on his feet than the stationary Pavlik. Kessler will be all over Taylor.

If Taylor actually uses his jab and has improved his stamina it will be a close fight, a fight which I still see Kessler winning. If Taylor still has poor stamina and his jab is still non existent, Kessler is gonna beat Taylor by a wide UD or stop him around the 8th.

As we all know, Pavlik beat Taylor twice. Kessler is a much better fighter than Pavlik, he is bigger, stronger, faster, more skilled, more athletic, etc.

I think Kessler would KO Taylor
Kessler is not as tough as Pavlik. Pavlik would have not wilted under Calzaghe's pressure the way Kessler did because he is battle tested. Pavlik was getting beaten worse than Kessler did against Calzaghe and being hit and rocked by a harder puncher, yet he kept coming and bringing the fight to Hopkins until the final bell and that alone shows you the difference in toughness. After kessler seen the way the fight against calzaghe was going to go and after he was hurt by that body shot, he was in survival mode. Athletically, Kessler is the better fighter but that's it.

        2. If Kessler actually missed that many weeks of sparring, wouldn't you think he would have canceled the bout? I mean, it was the biggest fight of his life and until that point most of his career was based on fighting Cal.
        3. I have seen his fight against Beyer and been studying his career up until now. still not sold on him yet because he still hasn't beat anyone of higher caliber.
        4. any video to support that? after the fight i heard him say he didn't have any excuses.
        5. kessler is no where near as tough as pavlik he doesn't keep coming forward either and at the end of the day, kessler will need that in order to beat jermain.

kessler will have problems with anyone slick with power, he was rocked by Sartison and he will be rocked by taylor if he doesn't come in right. kessler is more consistent than taylor though, but he lacks the kind of consistent lateral movement of taylor and the combination punching. other than joe, Taylor will be his toughest opponent.

According to the latest boxing news, former World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (39-1, 29 KOs) injured his right hand three weeks before his title match with WBO champion Joe Calzaghe last Saturday night, causing Kessler to miss out on several weeks of hard sparring. If true, this would help explain the lack of power in Kessler’s right hand during the bout, as he seemed to be throwing it with much less power than he had in prior bouts during his career. Though some of the lack of power can be explained away by the fact that Kessler was missing a lot of his punches, due to the head movement from Calzaghe, hence Kessler would likely want to take off some of the steam from his punches so he could make contact.

According to the boxing news, Kessler didn’t want to cancel the fight because he would lose out on a huge payday, which as it turns out, the biggest payday in Kessler’s career by far. Whatever the case, the injury had to have a substantial effect on Kessler, because his punch output was way off compared to what he usually throws. In watching replays, he seems to avoid using the right at all during large portions of each round, preferring to use his left hand which has much less power.
          4. Just watch the HBO version of Calzaghe-Kessler. In the post fight interview with Max Kellerman.

          5. I never said Kessler was tougher. I said he is bigger, stronger and quicker on his feet than Pavlik. The fight will most likely end up looking like Pavlik-Taylor II. Although Kessler beats him more convincingly than Pavlik did in their second.

Kessler would beat Taylor easily. Taylor's psyche is so damaged after the Pavlik fights IMO. He does not want to fight someone with punching power. Kessler at 168 is too big and strong for Taylor. He can box too!

Taylor via UD. Kessler is a good solid fighter, but I just dont think he has the smarts or the brute strength tho beat Taylor. He will definently be in the fight, and he will be walking Taylor down so there should be some good exchanges, but all in all Taylor UD, and I base this on the fact that Taylor has fought the better opposistion, and was in every fight.

I'm pretty much 50/50 on who would win this. Very good fight, I hope it gets made. Wright is now busy, as is Dawson. Froch is apparently not in HBO's plans, so that should leave us with Taylor-Kessler.
