It's not the same thing. WW and JWW are 7lbs apart. 175 and cruiserweight are further apart than that, let alone heavyweight. By the time Roy came back down, he had already proven himself as a top 20 ATG, if not top 10. Mayweather has not done that yet.

I would be interested to read the interview where Hopkins says that he rates Mayweather above himself. I thought he picked Hatton to beat Floyd...
    MAYWEATHER
Floyd Mayweather: is the definition of an around Boxer, Most Experts would say Mayweather is Probably The Most Complete Fighter of his generation. In addition he is also recognize as the most superior technical fighter of all time
    • "My goal is to be one of the best fighters who ever lived," he said. "My career and legacy are very important to me and I feel I am already ranked among the best there ever where in the sport."

Emanuel Steward, said Mayweather has a feel for the defensive game that few fighters have ever had.
    • "He doesn't use a lot of slipping and sliding," Steward said. "He uses the one basic move, with that shoulder roll, but he's so good at it, and it comes so naturally to him, that he seems like he has fun trying to make a guy miss from right in front of him."
I was pretty amazed by what I saw when he fought Oscar. Oscar's a veteran of all these super fights and won the gold medal and had a world title so early in his career, but at the beginning of the fight, he was so nervous like he was a kid.
    • "Mayweather gave him that shoulder roll and Oscar threw maybe 100 punches and he didn't land."
    • "All you can do is face the guys who are in your era and he's faced them all and so far, he's beaten them all," Steward said. "You can't dog him for not beating Tommy or not beating Ray (Leonard), because those guys are gone. The thing about Mayweather is, he's answered every challenge he's ever been given. That's all you can ask of a guy."

Kevin Garside of the London Telegraph wrote about Mayweather after the Hatton fight:the truth was inescapable,
    • "Mayweather is a genius of the ring, a gladiator in tap shoes."

Kery DavisHBO executive said about Mayweather:
    • "Floyd wasn’t The Greatest of all time ,But He is the greatest of this Era."

    Bernard Hopkins said about Mayweather.
    • "Floyd is the best fighter in the world of this era and he showed that round after round."

    When Asked:
    • "Who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Hopkins or Mayweather?"

In a conversation with the Grand Rapids Press, Hopkins left no doubt as to which of them is the better fighter of their time.
    • "The best fighter of our era -- my era -- is Pretty Boy Floyd," Hopkins said. "There's no doubt."

Sugar Ray Leonard, one of the best fighters to ever step foot in a boxing ring, Said about Mayweather
    • "Mayweather is the best of his time".
    • "He's an amazing fighter,"
    • "Very economical. It's all about the eyes. He's one of the few fighters I've ever seen, like Muhammad Ali, he watches every move his opponent makes, and capitalizes on those mistakes. That's a gift. You can't teach that. Floyd's number one this era. He's proved that, against Oscar, now against Ricky Hatton. He's fought the best fighters of his era, so that puts him up there. There's a few more fights left in Floyd, and bigger and better things to come."

Eric Brown (Pacquaio Assistant Trainner) said that Floyd Jr. being a gifted pugilist would “be the only man that would present Manny with a serious challenge and it would be a difficult fight for Pac” in light of “Mayweather’s brilliance in speed, intelligence, and defense.”

he had already proven himself as a top 20 ATG how????
        • How many Prime Undefeated highly ranked fighters did Roy beat to be consider top 20 All time before John Ruiz?????
        • How Many Lineal Championships did he have to be consider top 20 All time before John Ruiz?????
        • Who did Roy beat besides toney and Hopkins to be consider top 20 All time before John Ruiz?????
        • From 1995 - 2002 What top 10 P4P fighter did roy beat to be consider top 20 All time before John Ruiz?????

The Reason Roy is so Highly reguarded is because he rose from middleweight to heavyweight over the course of 9 years.

More than a few eyebrow were raised over that, especially due to the fact that Jones had allegedly tested positive for steroids before.

        But to floyd though..

Ok would you be mad if Floyd came back and went back down to 135 or 140.

The point being people dont give Roy **** for going back down to Light
heavyweight even though he didnt clean out the Hw when he said he was the best. But yet, They act like this is the first time in history a fighters is doing what floyd has done. which is not clean out his 4th or 5th weight division.

What people dont understand is before floyd fought deigo corralles
he only fought 1 time in 14 months...and when he came back you see what happen to corralles.

I think Pacman should start favourite, He is more the active fighter. Mayweather will be coming out of retirement and Manny Pacman is in his prime as well as Mayweather. Pacman has more pro fighter so he is the more experience fighter. They would weigh the same come fight night so size shouldn’t be a issue in this fight.

I think it’s disrespectful that Manny P should not start favourite over a fighter who has not boxed in a year or so. Maybe 2 years depend when fight happens. What kind of a P4P best is MANNY if he starts underdog against a boxer who coming out of retirement. .
what a dumb **** mayweather will be the favorite! All your doing is just trying to make it seem like mayweather was an underdog and pulled out a win against the favorite Mayweather kills paquiao and no your an idiot they are not the same size! but since it's obvious what your trying to do and this will make you feel better, almost every expert picked corrales to beat floyd and floyd won

Isn't Manny Pacman the P4P king and Mayweather was the fake P4P king. Isn't Mayweather the better fighter in your opinion? Why would he start underdog against a guy who has not boxed for nearly a year and who is feather fisted.

I think it pathetic and disheartening that the P4P king of boxing does not start favourite over a fighter coming out of retirement.
Most of us know how Pacman would be if he's the underdog.. I actually can't wait for this bout..

Okay guys, a lot of you are using hypothetical information.

The one thing that boxing handicappers NEVER do, is use hypothetical information.

They base their EXPERT opinions on situational factors that would contribute to the outcome of the fight. No emotions. No biases. No HYPOTHETICALS.

It won't matter who the favorite is, underdog or what have you. The Pacman will come into this fight with a mission. TO WIN. And it will happen. Why? Sheer aggression, speed, power, ring smarts, elusiveness, so on and so forth. These attributes of the Pacman will stop the "Slick, Safety-first" style of Mayweather. As talented and masterful the "Pretty Boy" is, he'll be in total "shock" as soon as he gets his first taste of the Pacman's fury. JAT

100k on Mayweather then the fight is made. You down? Or is it JAT?

Every thing Pac does...Floyd does better.

He even has a better left hand then Pac and hes right handed for christ sakes.

Floyd will be the favorite and will whoop his as and stop him.

IM GOING IN WITH ALL MY POINTS ON FLOYD.
