Does it really matter as to who starts of favourite?

I'd just like to see the two in the ring

Floyd with his name and what he did in his career will probably be the favorite when the odds come out, however; if we look into things, should he really be the favorite? Probably not.

Let's see: By the time the fight takes place, Floyd will have been inactive for 2 years; he will be 32, probably close to 33 if the fight is in late 2009 (since he was born in February)...and hasn't fought at the top of his game since, like...Gatti.
Given all that he said leading up to Hatton, and where he is at physically as well, plus the fact that he retired...it's hard to say I would favor him.

I'll favor the 30 year old, well conditioned, very active, at his peak, very motivated; Manny Pacquiao.

When the news came out with his possible return, I thought it had a chance to be held in May...but Manny is now set to face Hatton...which I thought was possible given Freddie would rather Floyd sit on the side-lines out in the cold a little longer; just in case.

If it was in May and Floyd was motivated to come back...I would say maybe a 60/40 in favor of Floyd but that would still be partially due to the Name and what he did in the past. After that, say in November or December; 55/45 in favor of Manny.

Maybe I'll change my mind later after I think about it thoroughly but this is off the top of my head.

I'm sure if a guy loses a fight even though he had a bullet shot into his chest as he walked into the ring, you would say it was an excuse.

He can't stay retired because he's a dumb ass who blows all his money. Sad to say but it's the truth.

Funny how this Floyd nuthuggers were so disgusted when Pac's accomplishment were being compared to Floyd's and how they try to make excuses about Pac's opponents and then being hypocrite with this matter. Yes I'm talking about Benny Leonard and Flawless.

If Pacman's achievement and ATGness is better than Mayweather's according to alot of people on boxingscene then i dont see a reason why he shouldnt be the favourite in a fight with Mayweather.
