This fight was so bad that I turned it off after 4 rounds.

Boris Dimitrov, manager of WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev, says there are no plans for a rematch with Evander Holyfield. On December 20 in Switzerland, Holyfield appeared to be well on his way to a fifth world title. In a shocker, Valuev was awarded a majority twelve round decision over the 46-year-old veteran. The scores were 114-114, 116-112 and 115-114. [details]Comment

What he said.
Not that it makes much difference. I think after the Chagaev and now Holyfield fights all the significant heavyweight contenders have the big man's number and will take Valuev with ease provided they don't get careless (which is why I would worry far more about Haye and Arreola than Wlad or Vitali, who Valuev's handlers will never let him near). Time for Chagaev to come get his belt back and throw Valuev into well deserved obscurity.
Holyfield deserved a rematch but I'm not really sorry, for the sake of his health (if not his wallet), that he isn't getting it. It is a black mark against Valuev, though.. 'robbery' or just 'debatable', there are a great many, including me, who think Holyfield clearly won that fight, dire as it was. A rematch in the States would be big money, too, more than any other opponent for him bar a Klitschko or maybe Arreola. A can't see any reason for ducking a rematch other than fear of embarrassment.Comment

I fear Valeuv will lose his title when Russlan Chagaov gets his hands on him. Holyfield's only option now if he wants to continue is to try and get a fight with the winner of Valuev's next fight. Although he'd have to fight an eliminator for the shot and most likely will lose that match in the mean time.Comment

Why are people ****** enough to want to watch a re-match of this borefest?
Jesus. How dumb are people?
I was watching this on stream, but gave up after a few rounds as it was that boring. All Holy was doing was dancing around the ring, doing jack all-throwing punch here and there. Everyone is blaming Vully, but we all know he is a boring fighter, anyway.
Holly had his chance, he was nearly there; but couldn't grab it.
Yes, if you feel sympathy for the old timer and think he had a hard time you may have a point.
But lets move on and leave history and boxing historians to finish the story.Comment

Holyfield Valuez was not that bad of a decision
I know this is a little late and no one will probably ever read this. The reason being is I finally convinced myself to sit down and watch this fight on YouTube. What I think happened with the decision was that all the judges fell asleep because they got so bored and woke up and scored the fight the way they figured it should have gone. With that being said. This has to be one of they most boring fights to ever have been fought. By the way with everyone's reaction I thought it would have been one of the worst decisions I would ever witness but guess what it wasn't even close. Do I believe Holyfield won? Sure I think you could give him the fight but the fight was close and not a gross miscarriage of justice. What I really think should have happened was the fight should have been declared a No Contest and they should have been sent home and told to come back when they were ready to fight. And to be honest I have seen plenty of decisions that were plenty worse then this one, and most of them were right here in the USA. But what the hell do I know about scoring fights I still think the Marvelous One beat Sugar Ray. Have a safe and happy new year!Last edited by Ravens Fan; 12-30-2008, 10:34 PM.Comment

Valuev's going down at some point, and isn't in any exciting fights anyway.
Holyfield has already shown he deserves it, as much or more than anyone else.
Not great, but let him at it.
Hopefully the WBA enforce a re match as their investigating it.Comment
