Jack Loew needs to be fired.

To many boxers fall into the trap that they have to keep the guy that got them to the top in their corner. Kelly Pavlik needs to drop this guy, he is not a top notch trainer. In order to be a great fighter there must be sacrifices and in this case it would be cutting this dead weight.

Blaming the trainer is an old trick boxers use to avoid facing reality.

Gotta disagree. Jack Loew isn't teaching Pavlik the right things or how to break bad habits and work on his weak points. That's the reality.

Not saying Kelly is going to be a great fighter but lets face Jack is not a good trainer. The guy is a concrete layer or whatever who got lucky on a pretty solid fighter with Kelly Pavlik. If Pavlik wants to continue his career and be the guy at 160 he needs to have legit trainers guiding him. I understand why a lot of fighters feel that they owe it to the guy that got him there but its only going to be a setback.

Pavlik should stick with Loew. He lost one fight to an all time great at a higher than natural weight. Kelly is what he is, there isn't a trainer who will magically turn his strengths into weaknesses. The level of trust between the two is priceless, and that is much more important than teaching some cute little feints.

they certaintly came out with the wrong gameplan in the hopkins fight. rewatching it on hbo, they're gameplan of trying to knock hopkins out was ridiculous. and doubling the jab wasn't going to get pavlik in range. each time he even began to jab hopkins would just move or counter. the correct gameplan would've been to lead with power shots, something pavlik didn't do all fight.

Pavlik has 1 loss, and it's to a legend. Nothin Jack or anybody else said coulda stopped that loss. It's wrong to try and blame his trainer.
